Publisher's Summary

Millie Barnes is this close to finally achieving her perfect life. Rewarding job as a local doctor on Cape Cod? Check. Cute cottage of her very own? Check. Adorable dog suitable for walks past attractive locals? Check! All she needs is for golden boy and former crush Joe Carpenter to notice her, and Millie will be set. But perfection isn't as easy as it looks - especially when Sam Nickerson, a local policeman, is so distracting. He is definitely not part of her master plan. But maybe it's time for Millie to make a new plan....

Couldn't have been better.

Perfect. Loved every minute. Kristan Higgins is a genius with romantic comedy. And Xe Sands is one of the best narrators out there. She could read me the phone book!

Unsympathetic heroine

Would you try another book from Kristan Higgins and/or Xe Sands?

Yes, I really like Kristan Higgins books in general and Xe Sands does a great job of narrating.

What could Kristan Higgins have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Make the heroine more sympathetic. She wallows in self-loathing, focused on her own angst, She's whiny and lies and it's hard to like her. And one wonders why she has friends. And she's pretty casual about not showing up to do her doctor job.

Have you listened to any of Xe Sands’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Great, as always

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Fools Rush In?

Any scene where she's whining.

Any additional comments?

Looking forward to listening to another one of Kristan Higgins books and forgetting this one.
She writes well, and the concept of the story is good.

Boring

I have read many Kristan Higgins books and I found this one to be a snooze fest. The main character's stalking tendencies and obsession with Joe, made her character pathetic and annoying. Although almost 30 years of age, the characters outlook toward relationships was sickeningly immature. I understand that the character is portrayed this way so that she can eventually have her epiphany as the story progresses, however, I just found her character irritating. I would not recommend this book.

Disappointed

The characters are unappealing. The main female character doesn’t make sense. Usually you can learn something about hobbies or professions or geography through. Kristan Higgins books, but not with this one. Xe Sands narration is wonderful

Best Book Ever!!!

This was one of the best stories delightfully narrated by Xe Sands who is absolutely fabulous in her delivery. Even though we all know what’s going to happen to Millie before even she does, the ride that this book takes us on is the way a romance story should be. And while I love a sexy story, Kristin Higgins doesn’t need sex to interfere with the story she’s trying to tell. Great characters, especially the female lead, makes for the perfect romance. If you pass this one up, you have no one to blame but yourself.

Satisfying!

I always enjoy narration by Xe Sands- she is spot on and adds a little tinge of humor to her characters.

The story was interesting and the characters vibrant and believable. Didn't want to stop listening. Another great novel by Kristan Higgins. I highly recommend!

Not a fan

I didn't care for this book at all. The main character was, for lack of a better word, goofy with her "stalking" behavior with her almost life long crush. It was like listening to a 13 year old girl tell about the boy she was crazy about. The main character was not only an adult, she was also a doctor. I find it hard to believe that someone that smart could act so stupid. The narration made the main character sound ever dopier. Don't waste your time or your credit on this one.
