“Hilarious, always inventive, this is a book for all, especially uptight English teachers, bardolaters, and ministerial students.”
Dallas Morning News

Fool—the bawdy and outrageous New York Times bestseller from the unstoppable Christopher Moore—is a hilarious new take on William Shakespeare’s King Lear…as seen through the eyes of the foolish liege’s clownish jester, Pocket. A rousing tale of “gratuitous shagging, murder, spanking, maiming, treason, and heretofore unexplored heights of vulgarity and profanity,” Fool joins Moore’s own Lamb, Fluke, The Stupidest Angel, and You Suck! as modern masterworks of satiric wit and sublimely twisted genius, prompting Carl Hiassen to declare Christopher Moore “a very sick man, in the very best sense of the word.”

I've been hooked on this author since I started chanting "First we feast then Ikea" after I listened to the stupidest angel...Moore takes his irreverence one step further in this outing. Moore loves words and wordplay and it shows - yes it can be quite vulgar and the F word probably is overused (if I was English I might be a bit offended at the overuse of shag as well). Of course this isn't family reading but a very entertaining twist on the Lear story for (very) mature audiences. Made my commute all the more enjoyable.

I'm on a Christopher Moore kick lately, having listened to and enjoyed Practical Demonkeeping, A Dirty Job and The Island of the Sequined Love Nun in the past couple of months.

Fool is, different. Different in tone. Different in character development. Different in style.

That's fine for what it is, and Fool was enjoyable, mostly, but if I'd bought it first, I probably wouldn't have continued through Moore's stuff.

I have to wonder if I made it through this book only because I'd read King Lear in the past couple of years. A friend of mine who's never read Lear, gave up because he tired of feeling lost.
I'm not giving up on Moore, though. "You Suck" is being downloaded as I write this.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend this audiobook.

Not your average Christopher Moore book

I listen to audiobooks hours every day, and this is one of my absolute favorites. The reading/performance by Euan Morton is absolutely phenomenal. He was very good as Paul in the Dune books, I think it was 2 books, but on those I think he was limited to just the one character. He is superb with this book! We need more Morton!

Great Listen - Need more Morton!

I refuse to give a 5 to anything this lewd, wanton and generally lascivious.

Consider yourself warned. ( chuckle)

I am a huge fan of Christopher Moore's books, but I could not get into Fool. It was too much of a departure from his usual style.

Disappointing
