Great story

This my first review...
I really liked the we story and the way they we novel flipped between characters. It is with ty he listen.

Uh This Atmosphere

I fell in love with just about every aspect of this story! I just wish there was another month of stories!!! Absolutely beautiful. While a part of the world was terrified, the rest of the world was just living with a shadow looming over them. This time period is the most heartbreaking!

Was an amazing story, loved the different voices thru each character. Little Gussy was fun.

This is one the best books I've listened to. The narration is perfect. The characters are all very well developed. I have my favorites, but there is something redeeming about even the not-so-likable characters. The story moves at a good pace. The story has some very sad parts, and they are addressed and very present; but the ending is happy, not sappy.

Swim on Florence

Endearing characters, Florence will swim on forever in my heart. The authors note was such an important piece to this story.

Lazy ending

The story starts out strong and fizzles at the end. Two main plot lines never have closure. What’s the point of setting up a plot, if you don’t give the reader satisfaction to see how it ends?

I enjoyed the story, the characters were engaging, the Jewish angle, very “Mrs. Maisel-ish”, but the author never finished the book. There’s an author’s note at the end saying that Florence was based on her relative, but that’s it. Can’t get into any real detail without adding spoilers. Had I known the main plot would never be dealt with, I never would have wasted a credit on this. Too bad, it had great potential.

Based on a real person

If I had realized before reading that Florence was based on the author’s great-great aunt, I think I might have loved this story even a little bit more. As it is, I was completely engaged by all the characters and the decisions they made throughout the story, most of them based on love and a sense of duty. It’s a wonderful story of family and what we will — and won’t — do to take care of them. Wonderful narration. Highly recommend.

Captivating

I began this novel while on the plane on route to my vacation. Because of the absence of distractions and my ability to focus, I was able to become entrenched in this novel; something I've had trouble achieving for a while.

Maybe that is why this story took off and captured me. The characters became alive through believable narration and good verbal illustration. The story was not a typical formula but creative and unpredictable for the most part.

It has been one of the best stories I've read in along time

I will be on the lookout for more stories by Rachel Beanland.
