I Loved the way history and fiction come
together to make this a great book.

An interesting story of a tragic event.

A captivating well told story, which allows one to easily imagine the hardships of slaves as well as the second class treatment of women.

Good for Historical fiction fans

I really enjoyed the story which had many factual parts to it. I appreciate the offer took her time to explain the parts that she retreat from historical books as well as where she took liberties. And I always love a good heroine story!!!

Wonderful Character Portrayal

Loved this book! It provided great insight into the harsh realities of the times, and the great differences life had to offer depending on class. The characters were equally fascinating, and I enjoyed getting to know each one. The author’s explanation of their historical accuracy (provided at the end of the book) added to my reading experience.
