Give Dina a chance

First audio book for me.. and the voice acting at first was a struggle.. you always have a concept of how the characters would be or names pronounced..most likely why people chirp her however after a couple chapters it was hypnotizing.. Dina used a couple voices to identify with main characters. easy to fall into the story like a movie of sorts in your mind! The sample chapters are too easy to cast premature judgement.. aduibooks have a new respect for me.

That said I read book 3 and now have listened to 4.. I will be going back to 1 and 2 for more of the back story beginnings and definitely 5 and 6 to finish it off. It seems like Erin carries mutiple story arcs forward and keeps things interesting and I look forward to reading/listening to the rest.

An Excellent Series!

For some reason it took me a little effort to get fully invested in this story. Perhaps it was the duration between "Fire in the Blod" and "the Adversary", perhaps the abrupt change in sceanery. Regardless, by the time I had finished the first few chapters, I was fully in!

This is only the second book I've read from Erin Evans; however, I am dieing to read the next book. I'm actually planning to go back and read the first two novels and maybe even the second two in anticipation of the fifth.

She's done it again

A fantastic new addition to the Brimstone Angel family. These have become my favorite fantasy series.

An epic culmination of past threads.

Erin has outdone herself with this book. It earns the spot as my favourite in the series by leagues.

Every aspect of the story is truly fascinating and the character-relations complex and enjoyable.
A more specific improvement of note in this book within this book is the confidence of Farideh herself, her character finally being allowed to trust and approve of her own decisions, this book instead focusing on her relations to the people she cares about and how her unique "gifts" can benefit people regardless of the source.

The addition of princess Raedra Obarskyr is a wonderful aspect of the book, giving the original cast of characters a foil without being a bad person at all.
Instead making the reader/listener consider whether the choices of the characters are wrong or not.

Lastly, my favourite character, Dahl Peredur truly gets to shine in this book, getting far more nuanced interactions than before, while additionally getting a culmination to his story-so-far along with the building-blocks for his story going forward.

A masterpiece, if Erin manages to top this book I would be astonished.

The Brimstone Angel's performance is exquisite

Farideh continues to move to the beat of her own drum in Cormyr despite the influences of the many nobles that take careful stock of her abilities. Lots of great interaction with Dahl that truly becomes better as the story moves along, even better Tiamat shows up in an unexpected way.

a brief pause between scenes

my one criticism of the narration, a short pause between scenes would be nice before jumping to a seperate part of the story, my brain has to stop the theater in my head and figure out what just happened when the narrator too seamlessly keeps reading through where there is no segue to differentiate between scenes that are miles apart from each other, different characters and a separate story arc going on,
