Nearly all of us have an ideal of what a "dream" relationship would be, but very few of us are living in one. Three decades of research and clinical practice have led Harville Hendrix to pinpoint four essential "non-negotiable" keys to creating and sustaining a healthy, loving relationship. In this workshop, he will help couples: understand what prevents them from achieving the type of relationship they aspire to; discover how to cultivate those habits that can create the conditions that permit such a relationship to blossom; and practice the Imago Dialogue, a three-step process that offers us a highly effective tool to transform our dream about our relationship into reality.

An affair: It can rob a couple of their relationship, their happiness, their very identity. And yet this extremely common human experience is so poorly understood. Adultery has existed since marriage was invented, and so, too, the prohibition against it - in fact it has a tenacity that marriage can only envy. Iconic couples' therapist and best-selling author of Mating in Captivity Esther Perel returns with a groundbreaking and provocative look at infidelity, arguing for a more nuanced and less judgmental conversation about our transgressions.

In this audiobook, Richo offers a fresh perspective on love and relationships - one that focuses not on finding an ideal mate, but on becoming a more loving and realistic person. Drawing on the Buddhist concept of mindfulness, How to Be an Adult in Relationships explores five hallmarks of mindful loving and how they play a key role in our relationships throughout life.

Good practical advice you can use
Very informative and inspiring advice that seems to help.
Good audio version specifically made for this format.
Helpful exercises to pause and work through in each chapter. This along with Hold Me Tight is a good choice when in pursuit of relationship help. Both have interesting perspectives and practical help.
Both partners would need to read or listen to either one for it to work; and be willing to have a go.
This book in particular though has left us both feeling like we have something to begin with, rather than just give up in our efforts to save our relationship.

Not at all scientific
focused on too much on post marriage stuff, like marriage could solve all your problem
and I HATE THE THINGS THEY TALKED RELATED TO PHYSICS AND COSMOLOGY to prove their point... first! there is matter and anti matter asymmetry... second! we never proved a particle such that it is own anti particle doesn't exist...

Its like turning on a light in a dark room!
Lot's of "ah ha" moments,. For me, love has often been similar to being In a dark room - hope for the best but brace for the worst when you don't expect it. Not only does Harville illuminate common relationship patterns and why they happen, but he also clearly explains exercises and gives examples of how to reenergize love and bring back safety and passion, I'm super-excited that "true love" is not only possible and long lasting, but can also exceed the experience of the initial "romantic love" phase! It takes increased awareness and transformation, but as Harville points out, there is no higher human purpose than to give and receive love. Thank you Harville!.

Transformational
I came to this book upset and out of ideas. Me and my boyfriend love each other very much but can’t stop arguing over seemingly small things. I could feel affection wilting because our relationship isn’t a safe place anymore and I didn’t know what to do to fix it. Having listened to this book I now feel so full of hope and energy. Harville identified so many things that I have been doing wrong and can easily change. I never realized before that me and my boyfriend have difficulty asking for what we want so unmet needs and frustrations were mounting. Now I have a practical and safe way to communicate my needs to him. I feel like we can turn things around. A must have for a serious relationship.

Conscious relating in action
Love this audio with Harville Hendrix.
If you are interested in being in a conscious relationship this audio has a lot to offer.
It explains the underlying dynamics, why, what is happening - is happening... and how to break the spell of the power struggle that seems to be very common in relationships.
It addresses couples and singles alike.
How to bring change to a relationship and how to prepare for a new one.

Pleasure to listen
The voiceover is very calming and gently invites you to join this sessions. The book consists of several sessions that you better do together with your partner. I think it is more suitable for couples who were together for many years or for those who who went through the romantic stage of their relationship and started the routine, kinda boring life together and would like to restore the passion they used to have. Nice book. Sometimes author goes too much into talking about quantum physics or cleverness of nature and as a mostly rational person I was a bit bothered by that. But the author always says that it is his thoughts, the way he likes to see things and it doesn't have to be true and you don't have to believe the same. I think it was important to say.

This book has taught me
1. The PHASES of relationship behavior from the romantic phase to the power struggle phase to the break through or break up phase
2. The phycology of WHY we are attracted to our specific partners
3. The WHY we go through the 3 phases of relationships
4. HOW to become a conscious couple in simple practical terms including communication, fun and intimacy

This book showed me my wounds, my way to heal, the power of love and while has left me raw and I've cried so many tears over lost love, missed opportunities and for my little me.... I now feel finally, at 45 years of age, hope.
Love does exist and I can work with my partner to feel safe exploring it, and being able to love in a way never experienced before.

Clear & Concise guidelines for a happy partnership
Loved it!
Now that I have listened all the way through once, I'm going to listen once again, but this time with a notebook to write down my thoughts and feelings as well as to complete the exercises at the end of each chapter.
I found this to be very informative and the breakdown of reasons of why we may behave in certain ways within relationships to be most fascinating.
Problem solving and exercises were clear and concise and made me more aware of being more conscious and intentional within a relationship and confirmed my thoughts on putting the relationship before the individual.
I enjoyed Harville's soothing voice narrating this program and the real life examples of dialogue were very helpful.
I'm not sure if this can work with only one person following the program but if not then I think I can still use elements and ideas to help heal some areas of us and become closer with my partner.

Story
