Publisher's Summary

I have no idea why she auctioned off her virginity for a cool mill. Regardless, I'm now the proud new owner of a perfectly intact hymen. A lot of good that will do me. I have certain tastes, certain sexual proclivities. My cock is a bit more discriminatory than most. And training a virgin takes finesse and patience - both of which I lack. Sophie Evans has been backed into a corner. With her sister's life hanging in the balance, the only choice is to claw her way out, even if that means selling her virginity to the highest bidder at an exclusive erotic club.

When Colton Drake takes her home, she quickly learns nothing is as it seems with this beautifully troubled man. Being with him poses challenges she never expected, and pushes her to want things she never anticipated. A sinfully seductive erotic romance where everything has a price and the cost of love is the highest of all from New York Times & USA Today bestselling author, Kendall Ryan.

Great Story Line But...

Any additional comments?

I am writing this review based on Book 1 and 2 together

I really enjoyed this book. I loved reading a different twist on the millionaire meets the naive virgin story that has been told many times. I found myself really excited to see what happens next.

I loved that it wasn't an instalove story. Even thought it takes place over a few months the author showed the time passing so it wasn't always feeling like one day immediately after another.

I loved that the reaction to the "secret" was reasonable and not blown over the top and I loved that the resolve was also reasonable and didn't consist of either of them loosing themselves or doing something they didn't want to do.

Now for what I DON'T love...

I have a pet peeve with books that are two short novellas that should have just been one book. Why are we doing this?? It seems to be a trend that I'm seeing now and it is irritating. I don't feel like this book should have taken up TWO of my audible credits and I don't think I would have wanted to pay the almost $30 I would have had to pay for both books. I would love for someone to explain why this is being done outside of making more money for what should be one book.

Second the narrator had a great female voice and did great with the female parts, however I really wish she had a different tone for the male voice and would commit to it each time. There were times where I would have to pause the audio to do something else and then I would come back mid chapter and have to try to figure out who was speaking between the two main characters. I like when I can vision the male based on the voice and the character the author was writing should not have had a voice so feminine.

This could have been a 5 star book for me if not for these two things.

Dejavu

As I was reading this, I could not get past the feeling that I had read this before. This book starts off like CL Parker's "A Million Dirty Secrets: Million Dollar Duet". However, I thouht Parker's book better. Also the narrator, Ava Erickson, can't narrate a male voice. At times I could not tell who was talking. Sophie or Colton. There are no real twist or turns. I do not love this book. The basis of the story is being desperate for money and auctioning herself off. Nothing new or creative about it. For me it is just average. I had gone ahead and bought the other two books so I will press on.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I feel like this book was a mash up of all the books out recently. I was over it quick.

Good but would be better with 2 narrators

The only reason I docked this a star is it would have been better with 2 narrators. This female parts were great, but she didn't really have a deep enough voice to pull off the male point of view parts in my opinion but ice heard worse so ill still just listen to the concluding story instead of reading.

CLIFFHANGER ALERT!!!!!

Kendall Ryan is an author that I usually find somewhat entertaining ..... this book falls into that category. The story description sums up the story until the twist that you do not see coming!! Hence the cliff hanger!!! I HATE cliffhangers!!!! Will I read book 2 ? That is open for debate. I did not feel the need to listen to this story in one sitting ..... and since I do have an aversion to series books that are not stand alone I may pass.

In any case if you do not mind series stories this is the read for you!!

Wow!

I loved the book. I can't believe with no actual sex how I actually loved the story. The foreplay between the 2 characters was Hot! The story of them getting to know each other and falling in love was exciting. Can't wait to read the next book.

Entertaining story not great.

I enjoyed the story and it was an entertaining read at the reduced rate. I recommend this audible book at sale prices but not at full price.

Narrator had a cute voice and was good with the main character's voice but fell short at the male voices and supporting cast. Half the time I thought I was listening to Sophie speak and realized it was Drake or another character.

Had so much potential

I was so excited going into this book. The beginning was really good and I thought I was going to love this book. Ava Erikson is one 9f my favorite narrators and I was so swept up by her amazing voice. She always gets me so into the story and the characters. Once I started this book I didn't stop until it was over.

Sophie sells herself at an auction to raise the money needed for her sisters cancer treatment. She is bought by the intriguing Colton and doesn't know what to expect other thelan the fact that he will take her virginity. The entire beginning of this book really good. But at some point I felt that Sophie was falling for Colton way to fast, especially since she's only supposed to be with him for a certain amount of time. She was almost expecting them to be like a couple, got jealous of other women in his life like his assistant, and was all up in his personal life asking a bunch of questions.

I would have preferred a relationship to form out of the blue for these two. It would have been nice if this was more of a slow burn and the attraction slowly built up. For Sophie to be a virgin she was dying for him to have sex with her and got all bratty when he refused to have sex with her. She even suspected that he was sleeping with other women which equated to him cheating on her.

This story was very promising and could have been executed differently. The cliffhanger ending was expected and not all that surprising. Filthy Bearuiful Lies had a lot of potential that fell flat in some ways, but is a more enjoyable read of this author's in my opinion.
