Publisher's summary

Sound is an abstract concept for most people. We spend our lives blocking out the static in order to focus on what we believe is important. But what if, when the clarity fades into silence, it's the obscure background noise that you would give anything to hold on to?

I've always been a fighter. With parents who barely managed to stay out of jail and two little brothers who narrowly avoided foster care, I became skilled at dodging the punches life threw at me. Growing up, I didn't have anything I could call my own, but from the moment I met Eliza Reynolds, she was always mine. I became utterly addicted to her and the escape from reality we provided each other. Throughout the years, she had boyfriends and I had girlfriends, but there wasn't a single night that I didn't hear her voice.

You see, meeting the love of my life at age 13 was never part of my plan. However, neither was gradually going deaf at the age of 21.

They both happened anyway.

Now, I'm on the ropes during the toughest battles of my life.

Fighting for my career.

Fighting the impending silence.

Fighting for her.

Every night, just before falling asleep, she sighs as a final conscious breath leaves her.

I think that's the sound I'll miss the most.

Great MMA Rags to Riches Story

Man... this was a great book...

First and foremost... I hate dual narration... ergh!!! Why o why can't dual narration be girl read girl and guy read guy parts simultaneously!!! You have to keep adjusting to how the characters sound from the guys POV then the girls POV... ergh!!!

Anyway... my narration hiccups aside... this book was so good... This was my first Aly Martinez book.. and it won't be my last...

Till and Eliza are so cute... best friends to lovers... back to friends, then family, then lovers! Whew... what a ride... The love story was kinda a sidebar to all the action and drama from Till's and Eliza's daily life. Then the whole going deaf thing...OMG! Tear drop!!

The ending was really good...but I feel like it just ended... so there has to be a second book... and it better be one of Till's brother's book... the side characters were so 3-deminsional... I feel like I know them so well... and I miss them a bit now the book is over...

Very good job!

So worth a credit, sale or buy (as the book is under 10 bucks!)

Young fight for love!

This audiobook was so very enjoyable! I loved the characters of Eliza, Till, Flint and Quarry. The hero and heroine have loved each other since they were young teens and depend on each other to make it through the poverty of life, challenges of bad parenting and trying to make it in the world. At 17, Till becomes involved with a local gym owned by a former heavyweight boxing champion, while he is going deaf due to a genetic trait. He starts training and becomes very good at it, but is afraid to take the relationship with Eliza further because he doesn’t want to lose his best friend. Through the journey toward becoming a professional boxer and growing into adult love the author gives us a heartwarming story. Narration was well done as well.

Love it

My first book by this author and I just loved this story, both narrators did an outstanding job.
Loved Carson Beck`s voice, perfect for narrating audiobooks. They both worked beautifully together to bring this story to life for me as a listener.

Beautifully written realistic love story..

I requested this book in exchange for my honest review and it completely exceeded my expectations.
Once in a while a book will come along that really sticks with you and this is one I will revisit my library for.
It's a wonderful story with memorable emotionally layered characters.

This unconventional romance held my interest the intire time.
This book is far more than an experimental night that turns friends in to lover's.
And of course this unique story has some pretty hot sexy scenes in it as well lol.

The narrator's did a great job acting out this truly gifted author's word's.
If your tired of listening to the typical boy meets girl romance... spend a credit and give this book a try it's well worth it.

5 fighting stars

I went into this blind. I knew nothing about this book and really that was beyond perfect. The narrative is great, one of the few I will listen to over and over. The story is a KO.. really though it will knock you off your feet. There is so much these two face. The real question is can they face it together or will they be facing a future without each other in it.
Beautifully written and flawlessly performed this is a story I will not soon forget.

Undying love

I absolutely loved this story. This coming of age, friends to lovers audio is heart breaking and awe inspiring.

Till is a boy of honor that is desperately trying to keep his life together when nothing is going right and the hits keep coming. He finds a little solace in Eliza and as they grow up, despite breaking and rejoining, they go through everything together. As friends. It's only when they finally give into the sexual tension that things get really angsty and emotional.

This story was gripping and emotional, I wanted to tear through the audio and console these characters. I wanted to make everything right for them. Aly Martinez made them so real and lovable.

Laura Jennings and Carson Beck were great narrators for this story. They were age appropriate sounding and also had the right tone for the area Till and Eliza were in. The audio quality was good and there was only one moment of external noise, that I could hear.

THE SILENCER'S ULTIMATE FIGHT

Any additional comments?

I was gifted this audiobook through Audiobook Boom by the author, narrator or publisher for an unbiased review.

Very good story about Till and Eliza's difficult defeat over poverty, family abuse, physical handicap and emotional fear. There's a lot of action and time covered so it's no wonder that there are some blanks. For example, the outcome of the initial confrontation with Till's father and another, the final state of his brother, Flint. I'm going to assume Flint's story is to be continued, and hopefully we'll get some background into their father, as well.

The subject of deafness didn't have the level of acceptance I feel is important. However, the story does focus on the pain of knowing what is lost after having the ability to hear. The deaf society is rich and proud. Sign language and lip reading communicate just as the spoken word with only the inconvenience of few people "speaking" it.

Two Thumbs Up.

Loved it!!

This is a beautiful and moving story.
And even though I've real a lot of friends to lovers stories, I found it to be very unique and had a refreshing plot.

It was funny and touching, as well as sexy and romantic.

Laura Jennings & Carson Beck did a fantastic job of bringing this story to live through their narrating.

.Real,raw.gritty,heart wrenching

Without being spoilery, I will say this: this book is heavy. This book knifes your heart and twists it until you bleed all your pre-conceived ideas about certain topics straight out the window. Beatiful, beautiful, beautiful. I was frustrated, happy, shocked, angry, in love, joyous, heartbroken, sad, exhilarated and awed -- I experienced everything on the emotional palette because this was such a great, solid book. I wanted more, perhaps an extra epilogue to make my greedy heart satisfied but I guess the cleverness and mastery of the book will have to suffice.Till , there are no words for the sheer badassery. almost-insufferable-at-times and others a lovable piece of star-hung perfection. I am a mess. Torn. So, so goddamn conflicted. Broken over the what-ifs of this book. Filled with sorrow. Proud.
I feel manipulated. Tricked. Heartbroken. Educated. Thankful. Mind screwed. But I loved how real it was how raw and gritty.. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.I received this title for free in exchange for an unbiased review. As always this is my honest opinion .

really good read

really enjoyed this book had me in tears at some parts loved the story too and I fell in love with the characters the only thing that I would of changed is not skipping so many years in the beginning because i felt like it jumped over alot of them becoming them but with that it didn't make the story any less enjoyable

45 Incredibly Angsty Stars

Flipping heck! Talk about an emotional roller coaster, sad tears, happy tears, any tears, I was on tender-hooks for the majority of the book wondering what curve ball was going to get thrown into the mix. Told in dual POV, the story follows Eliza Reynolds and Till Page from school days to all the grown up stuff, and what a lot of 'stuff' they have to deal with. Meeting secretly in a run down apartment every evening, but not sharing a life together out of their bubble, arguing, falling in love, separating, wanting more for each other, this book has it all. I loved it!
The narration blew me away. Spot on. I will definitely be looking up other audibles featuring these two. I received a copy of this audiobook at no cost from Audiobook Blast in exchange for an unbiased review.

Deeply emotional

Loved this book 10*'s
I have come to expect a really good book from Aly Martinez and this doesn't disappoint. Great story line, beautfully crafted, brought both laughter and tears.
I was completely entranced by the strong family bonds, great characters.
Narrator (Laura Jennings) did a fabulous job given there were many male voices to convey.
I would totally listen to the rest of the series (an accolade from me as I don't really like series, they bore me), I'm dying to know Flins story, but they haven't come to Audible yet - come on Audible get on it....

good story but I had my reservations

it was a good story that portrayed loyalty struggle love and pride. although the theme didn't run deep it was a comfortable and gentle way to approach a disability.
I struggled with Ms Jennings narration though. she had a great voice for the child of Eliza but as she grew her voice and tones remained the same. it kept me constantly reminding myself that they were now 21 or 22 yr old adults. like I said
her voice I felt kept the story light and comfortable but box I g is a dangerous cut throat world and it was difficult to mesh her voice with the possible dark side of the sport .
Don't know if I want to read Flints story Is i need a bit more depth and grit. wondering if I'll get sweet sentiment or semi hard core. this disability I feel is more tragic than Tills.
