It started with a window that was jammed shut. Pretty simple, right? All I wanted was to open the windows while I tidied the house. I'd been after my no-good husband to do it for months, but he never did. He fixed my window, so I called him back to fix the sagging, splintery front steps. Which led to him fixing my kitchen sink. And then he recarpeted my stairs. And then fixed the squeak in my bed.

He was supposed to fix my house, not my rusty, sputtering libido. And certainly not my broken heart.

who would have thought a Dad bod would be so sexy!

I have loved Jasindas work for a long while and so when I found this I had to get it!!! the story was awesome and fun and I LOVE Summers narration of it! I can't wait to read the next one!

Just love her books. These are a great pallet cleanser after several heavy books. Love them.

This was surprisingly good

When I downloaded this book I thought it was a throwaway because of the title. You know the type, “the billionaires' big beautiful over 40 lover” 😭 or “the cruel alpha’s midlife secret baby” 😭. But this was good. The writing was solid. The characters were as realistic as they get in romance. There was no angst but there was a lot of high quality dialogue, the kind that really lets you see how these fictional people might get along in the fictional future.

The sexting was the best I've read. I hate when romance books use epistolary style (with texts and emails) and we have to listen to them go over and over the address every time the H or h click send. Here the texts were normal, mostly racy pics, emotions and ETAs. Plus Jesse (H) slowly renovating Imogen's (h) home instead of bringing flowers, that’s my love language.

My only issue: “Hammered” is right. These people drink way too much. The heroine was like a ‘wine mom’ minus the kids. Pretty sure she’s an alcoholic. Her drunkenness - or rather her insistence that she was sober - created problems in the relationship that were a definite 🚩. And afterward all the talk about consent was a sexual buzzkill. Also this book has NO EPILOGUE.

Dad bod

The narrator was great I liked their voice. Her ability to switch between the male and the female characters and her flow was really easy to follow along with even at a faster listening pace.

The story itself was neither good nor bad. I was expecting something pretty cheesy based off of the title, and I will say it is not as cheesy as I thought it would be. I chose this book because of my book club monthly prompt to read a book with a dad bod.
This story follows Imogene and Jesse. Imogene is a newly divorced woman ready to get back out in the world when her house decides it’s going to break down on her enters Jesse the contractor from DadBod contracting. Overall it’s a cute little story.
If you enjoy more realistic romance with some cheese factor, this is the romance for you.

Not my cup of tea

I don’t like to write unfavorable reviews but I don’t feel if fair to other readers to only write one for the really good books. This was not a bad book, I just prefer characters with more self confidence instead of one that doubts her every mood. I also don’t care for sex scenes that 15 or 20 minutes. So if you like those touches, you will probably enjoy this book. The narrator did a nice job.
