Publisher's Summary

The day I lost my best friend was the day I realized that I'd been living in the past. I've tried to find a way to heal, to mend that break. Somehow, I came through it partially whole. But I know I couldn't have done that without Aiden Connolly.

The problem is, he once loved my best friend. And now she's gone, and I refuse to be in that shadow, or worse, a replacement for someone we both loved.

I left them all behind.

My brother.

My family.

My best friend.

And her.

Only Sienna Knight doesn't realize what she means to me. But before I can make sure she knows, I need to figure out exactly what that is.

Sienna and Aiden

Fractured Connections is a series which has me hooked, this book the third book in this series was every bit as good as the first two. You could, I suppose, read or listen to it as a standalone story but you will get so much more from it if you have listened to these books in order. After their friend Allison commits suicide a group of friends who had drifted apart is brought back together by this tragic event. Each book focuses on one couple although all of the characters are in all of the books.

This book is Aiden and Sienna's story and as with the preceding books, you find out what makes Sienna and Aiden who they are. Sienna has loved Aiden for years but she hasn't admitted to herself that what she feels is love nor has ever done anything about it because he and Allison fell in love. Now even though Alison is gone she still feels guilty about loving him. As for Aiden well, he's attracted to Sienna but he too has his issues.

Aiden is an angry man, he's angry at his mother for being a junkie and making his early childhood hell, he's angry with Alison for committing suicide and not asking for help from anybody in her group of close friends but most of all he's angry with himself for not saving Alison even though they were no longer together. But when Sienna is hurt and he wasn't there to save her his anger leads to him injuring himself.

During this moving tale, old secrets will be revealed, old loves will be admitted to all leading to a better understanding of what makes them both tick. This is an emotional roller coaster of a read which had me both laughing and crying by turns. Their story contains some pretty heavy stuff and the journey they both take to achieve their HEA is not an easy one.

I read this book before listening to the audio version and although I enjoyed the book I feel that you can get so much more from the story when listening to it, especially when the narration is as good as it is for this one. Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden have done another incredible job with this book, I was never in any doubt about who was speaking, all the characters are distinct. Together with Carrie Ann Ryan, they have with this book and all the books in this series achieved something special.

I was given this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.

Aiden and Sienna...

It’s amazing how one person can affect a group of people. Whether you love them or hate them. Sienna has been forever crushing on her BFs ex Aiden. He has something for her too but someone is on the way. The way their relationship develops is slow burning and I loved it. There’s drama of course, some very bruising drama but shock therapy is a great way to make them realize what they mean to each other. The friendship in this series is what I wish I had in real life. Very heart felt book and some funny banter too.
Joe and Maxine do a great job with the narration. ⭐️

I LOVED IT!!

This was amazing!!!

It was everything I was waiting for and then some. I fell in LOVE with Aiden and Sienna in book 1 of this series. The back and forth they had was so adorable and reminded me of how my hubby and I can be sometimes. It was cute but you could see they liked each other and they had a connection they were both fighting.

It was an amazing love story. I was so in love that I finished it in one day. Well, one morning into afternoon it was so good!!! I can't wait for the next one with Beckham EKK!

Very moving love story & sublime narration!

With every new book the Fractured Connections series gets better and better. Sienna and Aiden have been circling each other throughout the first two books in this series and it was so great, a relief almost, to finally see them find their way to each other.
The main characters in this series never have it easy and the same is true for Sienna and Aiden, there is more for them to overcome than the loss of their mutual friend Alison. Sienna finds herself in dangers situations and Aiden has a painful secret in his past that he needs to open up about because he is haunted by it still. They both have a tendency to worry and take on blame/responsibility for things they have no control over. For Aiden that translates into his infamous anger management issues, while Sienna turns to avoidance/denial as a crutch.
Aiden and Sienna gravitate quite gradually, or so it seems at first, from friendship to coupledom and a new normal for them both, a normal where they can be together without guilt and let the embers of their old crushes grow into a deeper love. Aiden is great at saying & doing the exact wrong thing, even when he means well, but he learns from his mistakes, motivated by love, which was wonderful.
Aiden and Diego were the sweetest! Who knew he was a cat person! I loved all of Sienna’s cats too, and how Aiden and Sienna constantly talked to their pets. Too adorable.
Apart from the romances and the wonderful couples, the strength of this series lies in the sense of friendship and family that is omnipresent, inspiring and endearing. I love how they all stick together and I adore every glimpse we get of the secondary characters. Dillon is the brightest light for me, always, and I was so moved by him in this story especially! I do hope he gets his own book sooner rather than later.

Narration: Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell continue on the road to audio greatness. They did such an amazing job narrating this story and all its characters, both main and secondary ones. I really enjoyed the emotion they brought to their performances as well as their pacing and timbre. What also stands out to me, is how great they both are at doing voices for characters of the opposite sex. Recommend!

Beautiful Story!

This is book 3 in the Fractured Connections series and I would absolutely read the books before it because otherwise you will be missing part of the back story and may not understand the relationships. In this one we get Aiden and Sienna's story, and I have to say I was extremely impatient for theirs! Aiden and Sienna have so many things that they have to work through. Not just their own issues with their friend's suicide and how to deal with the feelings left over from it, but how to handle if they want to move their relationship from friendship into something more. And Sienna has her own issues to think about in terms of having a real relationship with Aiden. I don't want to say too much because I don't want to spoil anything for anyone. I will say, I loved them together. They will make you laugh and they will make you cry. Anyone who has dealt with suicide before knows how hard it is to move on from it. They can tell you that it will affect the friend's and family of that person for the rest of their lives. And these books just show how real it is for the people that are left behind. I think that is why I love them so much. They don't leave anything out on how a person can and will feel. They are the reality. And I personally love that about them. The story is phenomenal. And then you throw in the audio and it is just as great! Maxine Mitchell and Joe Arden do a brilliant job! There aren't any strange accents. The story flows along beautifully while being able to convey the emotions that are written in the book. I loved listening to it and will definitely re-listen at another time!

Made me cry

Watching these two figure things out and fall in love was quite the story. So much drama, but it brought them together. But how could she love her best friend's ex? Isn't that against the rules?

Both Sienna and Aiden are hurt, physically and mentally, and angry and confused. They deal with it in different ways. Aiden lashes out and Sienna closes in on herself. And now, both are cat people. Will they learn to open up to each other and communicate with each other? Is this just off the charts chemistry or is it more?

I cannot believe Ms Ryan made me cry in this book. But yes, she did. So be prepared and have hankies handy. I'm looking forward to hearing more from this group of family and friends.

Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell brought out all of the guns for this book. As I said, I cried. It was a combination of the story and the storytelling. You can never discount the narrators when you cry. If they don't put the emotion into it, you would not cry. So well done you two.
