Maverick and Baylee

Falling Stars is the second book in the Wild At Heart series. It can be read as a standalone. This is a delightful best friends to lovers second chance romance between Baylee and Maverick. They have been best friends since childhood but have been more distant lately. Due to circumstances beyond her control, Baylee is staying in Maverick’s condo. Maverick is injured and recovering in New York until he decides to go home. They are now together day in, day out with Maverick helping her with Leo. Will they finally realize they are in love and meant to be together?
The dual narration by Ruby Corazon and Michael Gallagher was spectacular. Ruby Corazon was brilliant as sweet, sassy single mom, Baylee. Michael Gallagher was delightful as charming, kind, protective Maverick. I highly recommend listening to this fabulous audiobook.

I loved this book so much. Did it stress me tf out? Yes. I loved Mav and Bay’s connection. Even though we started off a little rocky, they were always meant to be…written in the stars so to speak. The way Mav would drop anything for Bay and her precious Leo is so swoony. They are the best parents. I was worried the whole time that Mav’s injury was just going to get worse, but the twist at the end was even scarier than that!

Michael and Ruby did incredible on this narration. I don’t think I’ve listened to either of them before and they were both fantastic. I’m definitely going to be keeping my eyes open for more from them.

I really enjoyed Bailey, the FMC in the first book in this series but she doesn’t disappoint as a single mother to a baby boy who after some money issues started staying at the MMC Maverick rental property a condo in the small town, while Maverick after a crushing NFL accident hides in his rental property only to find his old best friend already there. I really liked how she put herself and her son first through out the story, I liked how they dealt with the babies bio dad and not just made him into the bad guy). I really loved the third act and the suspense that was woven into the story, I have read Lex Martin’s backlist backwards and coming back to her current voice and writing style she has really grown leaps and bounds with these latest romance suspense series!

Have you ever liked a fmc in there book but then you read them in the next books and find them lacking? The fmc Paige, from the first book (which i really enjoyed) fell flat as a friend her actions show that she’s tries to help but then seems to always back track before actually helping ( I mean I’m sorry but how long does it take to clean out a trailer). Also after loving her mother in the first book I really didn’t love her in this story she didn’t feel like a pillar of support for Bailey. I found Lex Martin with her football “Varsity Dad’s” series which was great however this latest series has really been great and original with the girls being gone for the guys first!! And the suspense aspect was a very pleasant surprise! I do hope that all the brothers including the one in South America get there own book in this series!

A Moving, Second Chance Romance Tale

This was my first experience with this author's work, and the story was emotional. I liked the characters, Maverick and Baylee. I enjoyed that their story started as children, went through the crazy years of high school, and then life as they became adults with scars from their pasts which they had to work through. I appreciated that there were two bonus scenes included in the audiobook format. I thought Ruby Corazon's and Michael Gallagher's dual narrations enhanced the story's entertainment as their performances gave a voice to their respective characters. I was given an advanced listener's copy of the audiobook through Home Cooked Books. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

Amazing Story

I absolutely loved this story the second time around. Baylee has been in love with her best friend for a while. So, when she takes her shot, he rejects her. And their friendship hasn’t been the same since.

Now Maverick plays for the NFL and Baylee is still back home, running her mom's hair salon. But now Baylee is pregnant and her boyfriend wants to get back together with his ex. Her salon’s rent is going up and she’s about to lose her house. When her friend offers Maverick's condo till, they can sort out something, she has no choice.

But then Maverick comes home after an injury to recover and seems like her feelings back then wasn’t so one sided…

I totally enjoyed this audio. The eBook was great and the audio even better. The narrators were definitely spot on for me. Michael Gallagher totally made me fall in love with Maverick all over. Maverick was amazing with Baylee and her little one. Ruby Corazon, first time for me, but she brough Baylee’s character to life. The hard working, stubborn can take care of herself attitude came through amazingly.

Totally loved the narrators, the story and the characters 😊
