Publisher's Summary

Phil Hastings was a lucky man - he had money, a growing reputation as a screenwriter, and a happy, loving family with three kids, and he'd just moved into the house of his dreams in a rural area of magic - and was about to be altered irrevocably by a magic more real than any he dared imagine. For with the Magic came the Bad Thing, and the Faerie, and then the cool...and the resurrection of a primordial war with a forgotten people - a war that not only the Hastings but the whole human race could lose.

Critic Reviews

"A contemporary novel of masterful horror replete with magic, fantasy, and more than a little stylish eroticism." ( The Washington Post)
"Absorbing, though-provoking, and thoroughly magical. Feist's skillfully crafted prose illuminates many of the darker sides of fairy stories.... Try it as a bedtime story...but only on nights when you can take some time getting to sleep." ( The West Coast Review of Books)

A different kind of horror

I have always been interested to reading Raymond Feist but never seemed to get around to it. So I finally downloaded the audible version of Faerie Tale and really liked it a lot. I did not know what to expect, not know the plot or the writer's style but I really connected to it. Really great characters and and unique approach to horror - kind of Stephen King filtered through Tolkien. I was not thrilled with the narrator, but the story and writing made up for it. Highly recommended #FairytaleTwists #MythologyInspired #Magical #Dark #tagsgiving #sweepstake

Finally!!!!

Faerie Tale has been my favorite book since the first time I read it over a decade ago. I kept tweeting Raymond Feist, begging him to make this an Audible book and it has FINALLY happened! I actually renewed my Audible subscription just so I could get this book....now on to my review of the Audible book.

The story is great. I love how this dark fantasy really encapsulates the dark side of faeries. Even the supposed "good" faeries have a darker side which I think is closer to how faeries actually are or were... I felt so close and connected to all of the characters. I think they all worked really well together. It is a story I can read and listen to over and over again.

Now, as far as the narration goes, I'm usually not a fan and am unable to listen to male narrators. Though I feel Tim Flavin wasn't able to perform the female voices as well as I would have liked (he sounded like a guy normally sounds when he is mocking or mimicking a girl's voice) it wasn't so bad that I felt the need to not listen at all. All in all, I think he did a really great job for being a male narrator.

Overall, I give this book a thumbs up!

Great storyline. Okay reader

I read this in paperback years ago and had was excited to hear it in audio. The story itself is wonderful. The imagination of the writer as he brings you on the nail-biting journey is as good as I remember. The reader was just okay. There wasn't a lot of excitement in his reading. It was more like he just wanted to get the job over and done with. Sort of a let down as far as an audio.

R-rated Supernatural Hardy Boys Adventure

A novel full of stereotypical characters and predictable plot lines. Nevertheless, a pretty good read overall, with a few twists and turns along the way. As my headline implies, if you are looking for something with more to it than one of those old Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew novels, you will likely be disappointed. Otherwise, just turn off your skepticism and cynicism and enjoy the ride.
