favourite book now available

I've always loved this omnibus and had a couple paperback copies I would read time and again. this audiobook version is just as good as if I read it myself. I'll almost certainly be listening to this one again and again.

Creatures of the Herb

I’ve loved Faded Sun since I first picked it up over 20 years ago. This audiobook is equally good.

The summary, however has one very funny misspelling, as my review title shows. The book is awesome, but the people writing the book summary clearly thought that the Mri were defeated by the human’s use of rosemary and bay leaves.

Classic

Have read the book twice and just finished the satisfaction of listening to with an outstanding performance. This story is classic storytelling: memorable and strong characters, exploring new lands and new cultures, growth of all characters and satisfying storyline. One of my top five stories!

an oldie but a goodie

i read these in my teens and loved them. Listening to tbem in my fifties was like the first time. you cant beat the depth of character C J Cherryh brings to all her work

Great depiction of alien species

It was hard for me to understand the first 20% of the book since the story jumped from Mri, regul and humans without much explanation who they are, where they are and what is happening between the species. Later in the book, when all the bureaucracy was explained and characters opened up more, I saw them as while very different, still an equal species in the their influence in the matter, equally wanted to survive, maybe dominate if possible. I liked that none of the species were portrayed as superior or inferior to the other two.
I would have loved to see more description of planets they were on to have a clearer picture of the elements they are dealing with, but overall, this beautifully written Si-fi novel is one of the best depictions of alien life and intelligence I've ever read.

One of my favorites.

This is one of my favorite books of all time! Sci-fi, battle, honor, intrigue, and a wonderful host of characters. Great narration as well.

A favorite of my teens stands the test of time

This series got me thinking about difference and friendship in a new way. Listening to it read so well was a joy.

Engaging

Good world building and character development. At times hard to follow because of similar sounding names but still more then able to get the point of storyline

I wish the "free until" date was really 10-21; not 10-18 or earlier. fourteen fifteen.
