Mind & body revelations

This was a wonderful listen, debuting with a personal account of mental health downfall and recovery, followed by a path to reconnect body and mind through physical activity. Fitness boosts morale, creates a healthy flow of positive hormones, and promotes an overall sense of purpose, achievement and accomplishment. This is an important book in the self-help space, a reminder that our body is our soul vehicle, and that our mental health is deeply connected to our physical well-being.

Great Resource and Insight

I highly recommend this audiobook! The author uses personal experience within the book to demonstrate how he overcame his struggles with mental health. It all starts with you. Your mentality decides your day, night, month and so on. The book is well researched and detailed to better help you understand the hurdles you can overcome. This is a must listen.

Fantastic book!

What a great resource, different from the vast majority of the books in this topic, the author did an outstanding job starting with his personal story, showing vulnerability in a very real and powerful way. I am a firm believer that it all starts in the mind. We can train our brains to transform our bodies, our mood and our reality. Great guidance on setting realistic, achievable goals from outset, remaining consistent with your actions and seeking professional help if needed.

The narration was also superb.

Highly recommend.

I SO BELIEVE IN THIS!

This book has practical exercises to improve mental health. I so believe in this statement. It is not a ‘replacement’ for counseling but a great addition to help feel better. The author is knowledgeable. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book if you are struggling and want a surefire way to feel better through a proven method.

Here's a book that actually helps!

It's not a secret that physical exercise improves our mindset. But it's nice how the author presents the impact of it on his life. The influence of sports and the benefits stated makes me think of my routine. Very informational and educational, with a hint of fun in the book; it's pleasant and healthy listening, not these crap cheap talk we eventually find on podcasts with no fundamentals. Much appreciated work.

We all deserve to be happy

The author had me at the introduction. I appreciate his vulnerability in sharing the darkness he has experienced with mental health and how real he is about how exercise can improve our mental state. No pie in the sky promises, he is promoting realism with real solutions rather than meds while advocating counseling. The narrator does a great job, I found the book to be encouraging upbeat and informational. The brilliant advice of creating a baseline before you set your goals made a lot of sense to me, I have not really done that before. You need to know where you are to know where to go. The key takeaway for me is focus on consistency not the outcome! I recommend this audio book and look forward to putting it into action.

Highly recommend!!

I think Mr. Patrick does a really good job of “selling the idea” that exercise is so important to our physical health and our mental health. I guess most of us have been taught this concept, and we have experienced this, but the author really highlights this concept. I like that Mr. Patrick emphasizes “movement’ or exercise in any form (walking, hiking, jogging, going the gym, etc….) gives the same endorphin boost to improve our mood and mental health. He also goes into depth to help us address our “why”. At 20 years old, my why, was different than it is at my age now. Mr. Patrick helps show us this “why”, which now gives me the same motivation that I had 20 years ago. Lastly, he stresses “consistency and routine” and in creating these habits we can ‘boost’ our mental wellness daily and overall much more. I think this is a great listen and has truly changed my viewpoint on exercise!!

Needed More on Mental Wellness & Exercise

When I first saw this audiobook’s title, it intrigued me. From my experience, I know that exercise and mental wellness are connected, so I was curious to listen to a book about the topic. Unfortunately, the book didn't really stress the connection between exercise and mental wellness. In fact, it didn't really stress *exercise* much at all. Rather, the book is more centered on the mindset you need to help you live a healthy life. Yes, exercise is discussed a little, including the author's circuit training routine. He also discussed choosing forms of exercise that interest you. But the book kept returning to the concepts of mindset and goal setting. It felt like the book was much more about that and related topics. The book also discusses other health-related topics like the importance of sleep. The book felt a bit repetitive in places. For instance, the author discussed the tangential topic of sleep in several places. Despite these shortcomings, the narrator did an excellent job, and I found the book pleasant to listen to.

If you are looking for a book strictly about what the title states, you will probably be disappointed in this book. If you like books that are about getting into the proper mindset to help the formation and maintenance of healthy habits, you may appreciate what this book has to offer.
