Publisher's Summary

In Every Which Way But Dead, witch and former bounty hunter Rachel Morgan's managed to escape her corrupt company, survive living with a vampire, start her own runner service, and face down a vampire master.

But her vampire roommate Ivy is off the wagon, her human boyfriend Nick is out of town indefinitely and doesn't sound like he's coming back while the far-too-seductive vampire Kisten is looking way too tempting, and there's a turf war erupting in Cincinnati's underworld.

And there's a greater evil still. To put the vampire master behind bars and save her family, Rachel made a desperate bargain and now there's hell to pay - literally. For if Rachel cannot stop him, the archdemon Algaliarept will pull her into the sorcerous ever-after to forfeit her soul as his slave. Forever.

Another Fun Run

While the main protagonist can be daft and annoying, her inner goodness and gumption always wins out. I downloaded this immediately after finishing book two and just did the same for book four. Bed time was two hours ago and I had to finish this book instead. I figure that’s as good a testimony as I can give. This is a bit of a guilty pleasure series, but is better than the synopsis makes it sound. If you liked the first two, you should give it a shot!

Fine

I want to like this book. Actually, I want to love this book. This book is when more of the overall story really starts to pickup. Unfortunately, I find myself frustrated with the main character consistently. I just feel like Rachel is better than Harrison wants her to be. Very minor spoiler: Rachel starts dating a vampire in this book. It frustrated me. Maybe it's me, but I don't understand the way she gives over to him. Her reasoning in the book seem totally arbitrary to me. And I know the relationship gets better in the books to come, it's just this one book. I give it 3 starts but it really is more of a 2.75 star, or maybe even 2.5 star book. Anyway, it's fine. Moving on.

The series is still running strong

Another great entry by Kim Harrison. This book continues in the urban fantasy genre, and starts to explain the other side where demons come from some more. Mix that with finding out more about her past and making more interesting political relationships, and this was another just solid entry.

The Narrator is amazing, and the worst part of the book was that Jinx wasn't in it as much, so I couldn't hear the perfect voice Gavin does for him. Really good on this aspect.

Great book. The series isn't getting stale or redundant. Highly recommended.

Don't Count Her Out

Rachel Morgan is a broken witch, but she never stops trying. She is always ready to act, but not always willing to think things all the way through. Broken heart healing as she learns to lean a little more on those who care about her and who she can trust and who she can't. Everywhere she goes she makes poor choices and good friends. People can't seem to help but love her for her brash honesty and willingness to learn and grow as a person. Emotional maturity stunted around late adolescence it can be painful to watch her wade through the daily trials of her life, but her adventures and friendships are entertainment at it's finest. Each book brings new discoveries of a past long forgotten and healing for her. Slowly she is learning to rely on those around her. I can't wait for the next book!

LACKING

Unimaginative lacking in real thoughtfulness for an interesting plot twist at the end for defeating a demon of such great power and ruthlessness as to suggest take him when all it ever wanted and strove to achieve was her through out the storyline.
