Known for making up his own rules of right and wrong, Texas Ranger Sam "Wildcard" MacGregor takes what he wants when he wants it, especially when it comes to women. But seduction is the last thing on his mind the moment he stumbles across an Hispanic beauty crouching in fear beside a burned-out wagon. And it doesn't take long before he realizes the woman the townsfolk call "cursed" is hiding secrets too dangerous to face alone.

Isabella may look feminine and unassuming, but she's hell in a bodice with gunslinging skills to match any man's. But though she knows not to give Sam her heart as readily as she offers him her lush body, Isabella is certain she sees in Sam what he can barely glimpse in himself - a virtuous man dropped deep into a hard country bent on breaking him. A man who, under it all, craves a passionate woman willing to risk everything.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I loved the story line, and the characters. I am no prude, I love a great steamy love scene, but this book had one sex scene right after the other, and the sexual scenes were too detailed, and were over the top...... . I found myself feeling ashamed and embarrased that I was listening to it. It seemed almost as if this story was written from a mans perspective.......... very base, rough and dirty. Too much of a good thing, is not always good.

What does Jason Adams bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The Texas Rangers deep resonante voice is very sexy....

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

It would be X rated, and no, I would not go to see it.

Great Story, but love scenes are too ....

This was the 1st book by Sarah McCarty I've read. Fell in love with narrater, Jason Adams. His voice makes me tingle all over. If you like the strong, forceful type for your leading man, Sam's character is perfect. However, I liked that McCarty doesn't give him a "doormat" type of woman to pair with. Bella may be innocent but she is quick-witted and strong. I have listened to this book several times already and will continue to listen to it in the future; something that is rare for me.

great to get you "in the mood"

Just finished the third and enjoyed going back over Sam's to "refresh my memory". The romance/erotica is great along with a pretty decent story line and a hint of humor, can't ask for much more. Keep them coming McCarty!

just waiting for the other 5!

NOT THE BEST OUT OF THE SERIES, BUT I STILL REALLY LIKED THIS BOOK.

The story is good, not as good as Caine's Reckoning, but good. The narrator, as has been stated, is a little off-putting, but you mostly get used to him. Worth the money.

Liked it.
