Acerca de esta escucha

Are you stuck in striving mode, but never quite feel good enough?

Do you want to change your perceptions and learn self-acceptance?

Escape the trap of perfectionism.

Many perfectionists believe there’s always room for improvement, but instead of fuelling success, perfectionism can lead to feelings of disillusionment, like they’re not good enough or unfulfilled with the end results. Perfectionism is not only unnecessary for success, happiness, or any of the things we crave, it actively gets in the way of what we’re looking for. When we unlearn the habit of pushing for it, we often discover that what we sought is right in front of our eyes.

This audiobook, Enough: An Imperfect Antidote to Perfectionism, has been written by a fellow recovering perfectionist to help you ease into a new route to freedom, flow, and happiness, with chapters that cover:

  • The alternatives to being perfect.
  • Why perfectionism can lead to loneliness and burnout.
  • Learning new ways of self-acceptance.
  • Balancing self-improvement with self-compassion.
  • Learning to appreciate what you have achieved.
  • Discovering your authentic self.
  • Looking after your physical and mental wellbeing.

And more!

You may have previously believed that you should always aim for more, that if you can attain something close to perfection, then everything else in your life will simply fall into place. But you are not a problem that needs to be fixed. You need new strategies that help you achieve your goals without the overwhelm, self-doubt, and a brutal inner critic.

If you’ve read all the books and taken all the courses but still find yourself stuck with perfectionism, it’s time for an approach that gets you out of your head and back into your body, so you can remember that you are enough.

Enough will help you move from perfectionist to powerful.

Required Reading for Recovering Perfectionists!

I've read this book twice in two days. On my first listening over earbuds while doing housework (legit multitasking), I was moved to tears at moments throughout by how deeply I resonated with the authenticity, vulnerability, and insights shared by a fellow recovering perfectionist. My second reading today was to take notes, as there is so much to take away from this empowering little book.
I love audiobooks when narrated by the author. Vix reads like a pro with such genuine warmth and relatable wit and humor of her experiences that I felt like she was in the room with me sharing her expertise with friendly reassurance and guidance.
Of the five flavors of perfectionism, I am the Perpetual Procrastinator sundae with swirls and bite-sized chunks of Paralyzed Overthinker mixed throughout.
When I mentioned to my wife that I had read the entire book in an evening because of its brevity, she commented that nobody benefits from an 800-page book that goes unread sitting on a bookshelf collecting dust (or in my audible queue, in this case).
Speaking of, I am also ordering the physical book to highlight the many, many lines of brilliance throughout for quick reference and reminder as I continue my journey as a recovering perfectionist.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book to any fellow perfectionists seeking to negotiate a peace settlement within to release fear and embrace courage.
