Lovely version of this fabulous story

Where does Northanger Abbey rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This one was amazing. Emma Thompson was a fantastic narrator - in turns sarcastic, terrified, sympathetic. And the rest of the cast were fabulous.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The voice of the narrator is always my favorite in Jane Austen novels, because her voice was so original. But in this one, I also have a soft spot for Henry Tilney, and I do love how selfish Isabella Thorpe is - it's so transparent, but the character thinks she's so crafty.

Brilliant!

This fun book now takes the number one spot on my Jane Austen list! It was a beyond fun and funny adventure. Extremely well written.

super fun rendition with the music and different actors. It was a very immersive and creative delivery of this classic.

A delight to listen to

A very enjoyable, funny classic. A bit slow in parts, as many of the books in this era can be, but it had me smiling at the comedy of it all. I absolutely felt pulled back into the period and enjoyed being there.

I listened to the Audible production of this and it was magnificent. I was lucky enough to have Emma Thompson narrating the story to me and other actors doing the voices. That made it a whole lotta fun.

Northanger Abbey

A delightful Jane Austen novel with fabulous narration by Emma Thompson!! I had to follow it closely as the story moved quickly with many twists and turns!! Of course I would love to have heard more about the wedding that finally took place at the end, but it was left to my imagination. I imagined a happy,, colorful and gay affair!! If one is able to tolerate the quick, curt and delightful narration by Emma Thompson then I think you could enjoy this rather fun story about the times in history when Father’s liked to “control” the money issues of marriage rather than the true love that actually mattered most!!
