Wonderful Series

My children and I love these books! We have read the first two and are in the middle of Ember Rising. The kids (9 yr old girl& 10 yr old boy) look forward to reading about Heather and Picket every morning and beg to read the next chapter! We look forward to reading more from S. D. Smith and hope that there will be a movie!!!

Love it (some caution for small listeners)

My children and I LOVED and were gripped by this story as we were by the others in this series. But it is darker and more scary than the others so you have to judge if it is right for your kids

Another exciting installment of the series

We loved it. S. D. Smith has created an amazing story with beloved characters. Not everything is resolved in this one. Left much for an additional book. Hope there will be one. Joel Clarkson has become our favorite narrator. His voices, accents and singing keeps us in another world. Thanks to all involved.

Can't wait for book 4

This whimsical series I picked up on a whim. It was on sale, and it was for kids, and I wanted to proof read it before gifting it to my niece. Well I wasn't expecting an epic saga. I was expecting bunnies bouncing a long up to mischief like in Beatrix Potter books. Instead this is a wolf eat bunny world, where hawks and birds are out to get the bunnies and the wolves are helping the hawks. The bunnies must fight for their freedom from a dictatorial regime. This series has been so fun to read, and the growth of the characters fun to follow.
Little did I know this book just came out. I can't wait for book 4. Yeah you def want to read it in order.

Heather and Pickett

I am so enthralled in these books. Originally purchased for my daughter I discovered that I like them more. But do not listen to this one first - you MUST start with Book 1!

Great book and series, not fab narration

These books by SD Smith are all really exciting and although this book gets a bit darker more full of trouble and injustice and cruelty, it is still full of hope and courage. Worth every page turn....

The narration is overly earnest and the accents and voices didn't really connect with the characters or with me.
I only listened as I was part way through the kindle edition and had to use my hands for cooking but couldn't bear to pause the story (I was that gripped), but I gave up and instead found myself preferring to wait as the narration was irritating. That said, it was read with effort and attention, but it just really didn't work for me.

an excellent book for adults and kids alike

We listened to this book in the car. We have enjoyed it together as a family. The main characters are animals but they are deeply developed and believable as well as relatable. This series of books have excellent themes (working hard, suffering, waiting for joy) that teach kids good things

Excellent

This wonderful series has given me a new resolution. Do not begin a series until the author has finished writing all the books! Can’t wait for book IV
