Publisher's Summary

Corporal David Cohen thought he’d left war behind.

He was wrong.

The Terran Coalition faces repeated and brutal attacks from the repressive League of Sol. To defend his home planet, David trades his dream of becoming a rabbi for a battlefront in the far reaches of space. When particle beams fly, his courage under fire brings quick promotion. But in the lulls between battles when he must confront his soul, David finds a different enemy: the ghosts of those killed under his command.

Yet in war, it’s kill or be killed - and the enemy shows no mercy.

David must square the tenets of his faith against his responsibility to crew and country. If he fails in his command, billions face enslavement by a ruthless regime. Now it’s an all-out fight for the galaxy’s freedom.

Because a man’s greatest foe lies within.

If you love Babylon 5, Safehold, and Destroyermen, you must try Echoes of War, a military sci-fi series that will take you to the heart of duty, sacrifice, and the unseen scars of those who serve.

Includes the first three novels in the Echoes of War series:

  • Fight the Good Fight
  • Strong and Courageous
  • So Fight I

A Scifi Military which put moraliy and God first

I have often been troubled that so many Scifi stories exclude God in whatever way folks see the prime mover as non-existent. I don't believe the future will abandon the belief in a conscience entity that controls and created the unique harmony of the universes. This war story centers around a strong belief in a prime mover and the fact the Jews, Christians, Muslims, and all other religions we embrace today will endure into our future. It sometimes pushes the point of this strong tie to God rather blatantly. but perhaps in the constant barrage of Scifi showing our belief system as something we leave behind when we evolve from this planet or solar system into the great expanse; perhaps it is good to have a few voices yelling we will take our God with us to the stars. All and all even if you aren't a believer you will still enjoy the books and the excellent narration.

Religious

Good story the only thing is it is steeped in religious and of corse the bad guys are atheists Always the bad guys except that when was the last time you heard an atheist start a war. I stayed to the end and it was a good story.

Amazing start in the series!!!

If you are a BELIEVER, this series is a must. The sad thing is, if you look at the world around us and what is happening now, this series makes you think. I love this series and can't wait till the rest come out.

Meh

the story had so much potential but got lost in to much religion. every conversation seemed to be a sermon and I was left with a bad taste in my mouth.

Blasphemy ruined it for me.

I stopped listening in the first book because the blasphemy kept getting worse. The author also kept trying to tell you that all religions are the same, which they aren't. The story was good and I liked the characters. But the longer I listened, the blasphemy kept increasing. I returned the book and listed this author as a NO.

WHAT A GREAT STORY

For God, comrades and countries. Damn the torpedoes full light speed ahead. This is one of the best series I have ever read/listened before. The characters are well developed and easy to love and hate. It is reminiscent of classic sea warfare and modern day battle. The military science fiction genre is better for having Daniel write these stories. I can’t wait for the rest of the Echoes of War!!! Don’t let this box set get away you won’t regret it.

A Different way to think of war

I enjoy listening to Military Science Fiction. This one shows us that we should always fight for our freedoms as our forefathers did when they first started the United States of America. Will look forward to more of this series and this writer.

Quite a diffrent take on Sci-Fi Military books

Ummmm, I enjoyed the fundamental story. Had to wonder if the author is being a little heavy handed at times on covering the religious side of things all the time. Some of which seemed to be a thinly veiled algology to the siege that the state of Israel has been in.

But was a interesting view on what would happen if basically the various religions found common ground against an enemy that is extreme left wing communist state.

I have no idea about a lot of the navel lingo about targeting etc but it didn't get in the way of the story that I did enjoy. I will be getting the next ones in the series.

Also great to see a publisher putting out a book that would be unconventional and make some people uncomfortable.

sounds like siri reading it.

might be a good story, but the narrators voice is so mundane, I can't explain it, but every sentence sounds like he's run out of breath at the end.

returning.

Not worth reading

Don't waste your time reading these books, unless you like your stories drizzled liberally with religious propaganda, a writer who seems buried in McCarthyist America, who conflates atheism with communism, and who apparently has never heard of Democratic Socialism. The universe is poorly constructed, the characters are hollow shells without development, and the combat sequences are far from exciting or credible, even for a space opera. The writer has basically taken America of the 1950's, and tried to set it 400+ years in the future, and even though the story is supposed to have multiple cultures, and even species, it is literally just a snapshot of America (along with it's warped obsession with religion. One would hope, given the increase of atheism over the last half century, by the advent of nearly half a millennium, religion will be religated to supetstition along with witches, ghosts and the boogeyman.
