Really great storytelling
I thoroughly enjoyed this book - got the audible version and was pleasantly surprised at how well/believable the narration matched the protagonist's voice.
As a kid myself in the early 1970's, I spent a lot of summers parked at my grandparents house and really felt the vibe of those days. I could also relate to the awkwardness - and fun/funny moments. Lots of interesting characters and situations that made me laugh, but also a lot of serious stuff happens that really made me care about Evan as she tries to keep her head up with all the tough, life-lessons swirling around her. Highly recommend!

Great Read!
There are so many themes written into this one memoir and J. A. Wright takes us on quite a journey that she endured in her early teens. Unexpected twists and turns are seemingly endless and her words remind me that life can sometimes sweep you away. Hopefully, like she did, you survive the ride. Thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook.

Gently but profoundly anti-war
I’m old enough to have lived in heat of the Vietnam War. Friends died in combat or came home irreparably damaged. Innocent Americans civilians died at the hands of our own civil authorities. Vietnam deeply changed us. We have not yet recovered. War is a very bad idea.
