No Warning for 2 Min of Silence Mid Play

I chose this because it's short. A friend wants me to learn to meditate with her, & I thought I'd try some of the free audios offered to get my feet wet. The man's voice was calm and restful and lulling. I usually play audiobooks when I go to bed and fall asleep listening. I expected to fall asleep learning to meditate. The audio starts with the direction to take a deep breath into your abdomen and then into your chest. I think you have to be very aware to breathe into your abdomen. You do this three times. THEN you're supposed to breathe normally -- not paying attention. Breathing is autonomic -- your body does it without your paying attention, without conscious thought. But after you have been TOLD to pay attention to it, it's DARN HARD to STOP paying attention. My breathing felt stilted and less deep than normal. I think it's a mistake to tell you to focus on the breathing at the start if you're going to be told subsequently to STOP paying attention. If you want me to breathe naturally DON'T CALL ATTENTION TO MY BREATHING IN THE FIRST PLACE! After a few minutes, the voice says he'll leave you to continue breathing without paying attention. I often doze when listening to tapes, so the first time I played this one, I may have dozed. All I know is I suddenly was aware of SILENCE. I thought the audo was done and I'd missed the ending due to falling asleep. But the indicator was IN THE MIDDLE of the timeline. I sat bolt upright in bed (NOT conducive to relaxing!) Is the audio defective? Is my player defective? I was AWAKE to problem solve now. Other audios worked, but I found this dead air in the midst of this audio. At about 4 and a half minutes left (of 9), suddenly there is silence. Little warning. It goes on for about 2 minutes. He does say to keep breathing for a couple minutes but he doesn't mention he's going to stop talking for the same couple minutes. Surprise endings are fine but not thrilled with surprise middles.

Simple Relaxation

9 minutes to relax and forget everything around you, focus on your breathing, focus and relax

Guided Meditation as good as it gets.

Treat your mind and body to a mini vacation, whenever and wherever you are. Ten minutes, twenty, more. Make it trip for the whole family. :)

you jerks just shove this crap into my account and there's no way to delete it. Now there are 6 of these things, with who knows how many more to come, clogging up my library. F-U and your not giving me choice! I'm going to 1 star all of this garbage

Good STUFF

I I enjoyed Jesse Israell’s calming voice, and the way he gives you permission to be gentle with yourself. This is a great way to start/ease (as the name implies).

It's very short. There is nothing new if you know about meditation already. However it's a good first contact with meditation.

alot of dead air

more the. half of this is dead air. making me wonder if it helped to play a .i had to check several times. also if there was a mod where things cant interrupt that would be been helpful.

breathe into my chest during meditation? really?

Meditations typically encourage breathing through the belly (diaphragmatic breathing)which is actually the correct way to breathe and the most efficient way to relax. When I first heard him say 'take a deep breath into your belly' I thought I was on the right path, until he said 'and into your chest'. Into my chest? And How am I doing both? Then there was focus on 'watching my chest expand' ... I lost interest after that.

Fantastic

I've been meditating for years, but this is still a fantastic, simple refresher. It is designed for people new to meditation, but as implied above, a practitioner of any level can benefit t9 the "back to basics," simple approach this audiobook takes on. It's short and sweet and will have you on your way, so just enjoy the experience as it happens. You'll be done in less than 10 minutes.

Easy Mediation
