If you want to pass the NREMT exam but don’t have a lot of time for studying, pay attention....

You are no doubt a busy student with a lot of things going on! It can be challenging to find the time to read your EMT textbook in preparation for the NREMT exam. However, the truth is that the NREMT is a challenging computer adaptive test, meaning the difficulty of the questions are adjusted based on the responses you provide. It is normal to have some anxiety about taking this test.

The NREMT only allows a max number of six tries to pass the test. Therefore, thorough preparation cannot be overlooked. That is why the author Jamie Montoya, an EMS professional, developed the EMT Audio Study Guide!

This edition is a two-in-one bundle! It contains hundreds of practice questions and reviews all essential concepts found on the exam from all categories of the exam. You can listen to it wherever life takes you! Its sections include:

  • Airway, respiration, and ventilation
  • Cardiology and resuscitation
  • EMS operations
  • Medical emergencies and gynecology
  • Trauma

Very Poor Narration

The content of this book is useful and thorough. I would prefer that the practice test questions would be after the review rather than before.

The narration for the review was terrible. There were so many repeated mispronunciations. Many of them were medical terms so there is some forgiveness but there were way more than should be expected and there were a significant number of non-medical words that were mispronounced. Having listed to over 100 audiobooks this was at an unacceptable level.

Beware of Austin Stolers pronunciation... It's BAD

Contents of the book are a great resource, but the CPR in this book is OUTDATED among other things, keep that in mind. Also, the narrator for the review has atrocious pronunciation on many of the medical terminology. Hilarious on one hand but extremely irritating when you think that this is advertised as a resource for people seeking to get into the medical field. very disappointed with Austin Stoler. Should be narrated by someone with some experience or at least reviewed by them

The Pronunciation in the Review portion is hilarious but distracting

“Jyne-akology” “canoe-la” “albuh-troll”, etc.

But the basics of this review are good and while it definitely doesn’t replace the work you need to put in to learn this, it’s a nice tool to reinforce the core concepts while you are driving/doing housework.

Wrong info

Alot of this information is not correct. I'm pretty sure you dont use a bvm on a pt. whos talking to you. also look at the 5 star reviews, notice how they are the same thing copy and pasted?

Sample Questions then Overview with many Mispronunciations

As some other reviews mention. There is a series of multiple choice sample questions; many of which have an All Of the Above answer. Then a brief overview of all the topics. Many of the briefs are basically telling you to look up more material (e.g., know the 6 types of X - and those 6 types are not included). So I do NOT recommend this as your only study material; maybe just supplemental as a convenient addition when ur doing some other task like cleaning or grooming! My biggest irritation was the shear volume of mispronunciations; some so bad I had to rewind and replay just to try and understand what the intended word is supposed to be. I thought that any good professional narrator would at least take the time to find out how to properly pronounce the material being delivered; not this one.

Pronunciation Matter

1st half is great - practice questions are very helpful.
2nd half has a different narrator who mispronounced several key medical terms. After about an hour I was so frustrated I started a list:

Epiglottis
Epiglottitis

Thoracic
Stridor
Tracheotomy
Cannula
Albuterol
Atherosclerosis
Thromboembolism
Diaphoresis
Diastolic
Thoracic
Edema
Diuretic
Contraindications
Cyanosis
Intercostal muscles

Section 2 Part 4
Anatomical
Benign
Asystole
Supine
Angioedema
Epinephrine
Gynecological
Gynecology

Meninges
Cardiac tamponade
Peritoneum
Musculoskeletal
Urticaria
Syncope
HACE
HAPE
Asystole

Not a complete List - could only write down when I wasn’t driving.

Mispronunciation of medical terms

Narrator mispronounced medical terms throughout the audiobook, making it difficult to understand sometimes. The review test is helpful.

I would rate this product at a 5.

Bought this for my brother to help study for his EMT test. He had two failed attempts and after using this book to study he passed! There were some inaccuracies in the book but the editor was notified and made note of the necessary corrections.
