Publisher's Summary

Number four, Callum Duquette. Placekicker for the Boston Tomcats. Former underwear model. Nickname: Duke.

I thought the most annoying thing about being a single dad was that my friends were always trying to find me a date. Until a sassy British ray of sunshine bumps into me at a bookstore. One accidental butt grab, a viral photo, and a lot of misunderstandings later, I find myself in a fake relationship with a movie star.

Now I’ve got my friends off my back, but the cheeky Brit has complicated my life even more.

She calls me the duke of Grumpville. I call her movies the end of civilization as we know it.

She calls my job “the wrong kind of football”. I call her the one thing on Earth that can make me lose focus and control.

It’s getting harder to pretend I still want this to end after my team’s game in London.

I thought we were only faking it. But getting to know the real Millie Darden changed everything.

What a perfect listen!

There is a lot to LOVE about this book! It is filled with humorous moments as well as some serious times. I struggled to put this down because I was having such a good time whole reading. I highlighted many passages to enjoy and remember for later. I did love the meet-cute as it is unique and I did not think anything would come of it….but I was wrong.

The characters are adorable! Duke (not a real Duke) is a sexy single dad who happens to be the place kicker for the Tomcats. He has a….lets say grumpy attitude. When he meets Millie…he is not impressed with her at all…he doesn't understand why she is a big deal. Millie is a breath of fresh air! The different names she comes up with to call Duke (in her head) and that fries thing…ew gross!

Overall this is highly enjoyable. The writing team of Kayley and Connor come up with different and fun scenarios for the reader to enjoy. As expected narration is excellent!

Chloe Wins!

This third installment of the Boston Tomcats series does not disappoint. Even though, after three football rom/coms, Kayley still doesn’t understand how football works.

Loved the story, the meet gropingly, the ruse, the heartbreak, and the HEA. And did I mention the smexy scenes?!? 🔥. Kayley and Connor are a stellar writing duo.

The narration was perfection! Connor, voicing words he (and Kayley) wrote, was great as expressing the nuances of Dukes grumpy deliciousness. Desiree brought the perfect lightness and sass to Millie. Mackenzie and Evan were fabulous as the supporting characters. Even Kabippy.

Loved this one! Will there be another? 🤞🏻

Wow!!!! Another great listen

If you are looking for a witty, entertaining read look no further than
Duke: Faking the Play by Kayley Loring and Connor Crais. Ms Loring is one of my go to authors and when you add Mr Crais into the mix you know you are in for a well written, entertaining journey with wonderful characters.

The narration team of Connor Crais, Desireé Ketchum, Mackenzie Cartwright, Evan Parker did a fantastic job bringing this story and the characters to life. They were spot on with the banter and the love.

This is broody, American football player and single dad Duke and British actress Millie’s wonderful journey and from the moment I picked this book up I was captivated and there was no putting down until I had read the final line and even then I wanted more……..
This journey ticked all my boxes, I laughed, I giggled and I smiled a lot but I also swooned and held my breath as I joined a couple who certainly has some seriously hot chemistry decide if they wanted more than a fake relationship. I found myself cheering them on but what took this book to another level was Duke’s adorable daughter named Chloe who at times stole the show. If I could give this read more than 5 stars I would and I’m now patiently waiting for the audio release. I highly recommend this read to all romance lovers.

Faking for the win

Our grumpy Callum Duquette, aka Duke, finally finds love in the most unexpected place and with the most unexpected star. Duke is grumpy for a reason or so he thinks but his one light is his daughter Chloe. When Duke is in the line of the camera fire with star Millie Darden they do the only thing they think will satisfy the media. They fake a relationship. It makes Duke's daughter Chloe extremely happy as well as the people around them. What they both find is they genuinely like each other and don't want this fake relationship to end. Lots of fun and funny moments as well as a sweet story of finding love when you least expect it.

Connor Crais, Desireé Ketchum, Mackenzie Cartwright, and Evan Parker were great to listen to. Connor Crais has a double plus as he co-wrote this book as well as narrated it. Desiree brought her cheeky British accent and Mackenzie and Evan rounded out the fantastic foursome. Great listen and I loved it.

Favorite quotes:
“Peas & Carrots, I said.”
“The world is your oyster and has been ever since you were a girl. Stop focusing on the grit and see the pearl. ‘What’s the pearl?’ She pinched my cheek. “You are, dear sister. You are the pearl. Let yourself shine.”

Oh, this was the most romantic tale of a famous & most grumpiest football player, placekicker & single dad, Callum “Duke” Duquette and Beautiful & sassy British movie star (everyone knows her best in the tv show/movie: Arabella Peacock Wizardess), Millie Darden. This mostly took place in America and then, UK, London. It was nice to have a vision of where they are located and how cheeky fun to be in that type of environment. This book, by far, is my favorite…It seems, these 2 can write characters you truly fall in love with and you end up confusing yourself with which person you want to have as a “book boyfriend”? Decker? Dash? Duke? Each story has a unique twist, plenty of spice, and yes, you want to watch football & see if there really is a cool & savvy charmer like Duke. The Boston Tomcats series is getting to me!!

Have you heard the audiobook? Have you heard Connor Crais and Desiree Ketchum together? Holy macaroni…I forgot how they can bring it! I didn’t even know Desiree can narrate under a British accent. She fooled me and yes, you can also, heard Connor doing a little British accent, too. Don’t get me started with the side characters such as Mo, Duke’s best friend, & 11 years old daughter, Chloe, family members and so on which are mostly played by MacKenize Cartwright and Evan Parker. They did so well!!! This multicast made a touchdown of pure listening bliss, great performance. So, Duke and Millie were in a marriage of convenience and made the best effort to fake it each day. As we know, it was wickedly delicious to see them play out and my, oh my, they had funny & witty banters galore!

I love how they developed feelings with each other & how intimacy it can be. I mean, the growth of the characters were just beautifully done and you cheer them on wanting them to just balance work, fame, & love. It seems this time around, we had more romance than football games scenes but either way, always all in when it is Kayley and Connor’s books. I swear, Kayley and Connor as a team alway develop the goods in a book, so many swoony, steamy, and hilarious moments!!! So, what are you waiting for? Meet Duke and Millie, you won’t regret it!

Fun, flirty and fantastic!

If you are a fan of sexy single dads, fake relationship tropes, grumpy/sunshine characters, and adorable tweens and their sass, then you absolutely don't want to miss this latest addition in the Boston Tomcats series by Kayley Loring and Connor Crais.

Callum Duquette, aka Duke, the place kicker for the Boston Tomcats NFL team and tattooed single dad of a precocious tween daughter, finds himself in a Notting Hill situation with beautiful British movie star Millie Darden. With both of them having social events to attend and needing a plus one, and after being caught in an accidental but seemingly romantic embrace, they both agree that the upside of not correcting the misunderstanding outweighs enduring a few awkward social outings to make this relationship work to their mutual benefit. Plenty of steam, not too much angst, and a perfectly satisfying HEA make this a perfect weekend listen.

Connor Crais returns as both the co-author and co-narrator in this return to the Boston Tomcats series pairing up with the sunny and sultry Desireé Ketchum, and with Makenzie Cartwright and Evan Parker rounding out this incredible cast. This is performed in duet narration, where each actor performs their character's lines regardless of the point of view in which it is written. This multicast format is a favorite and brings a continuity to the performance that is hard to match and oh so fun to listen to. Definitely worth a credit and a second listen!

Peas and Carrot and love it when Chloe Wins !

Peas and Carrots! Chloe Wins…..ahhh….just finished listening to this book and I must say it is one of my favorite of the Boston Tomcats series…Well Done kayley Loring and Connor Crais….You both knocked this one ! One of the most romantic tales of British and American told perfectly by Connor Crais and Desiree Ketchum. So wonderful to get the other characters like Mo and Charlie, Dash and Hannah…it was hot, funny and so wickedly delicious…and yes, Kayley….I still don’t get football but with each book, I do understand a little of the quarterback, kicker and defense …thanks for the lessons Connor Crais…

This book deserves all the stars

I have just experienced the whole spectrum of emotion with this story, especially towards the end. It had me tearing up. I loved the use of the britishisms and was secretly hoping one of the narrator's was going to be charged with doing a Graham Norton impression, but alas.

This story follows the British actress, Millie, and the Kicker for the Boston Tom Cats, Duke. After their accidental meeting in a quiet little book shop, it follows them as they navigate a fake relationship that soon becomes a very real romance.

Of all the stars in this book I think Dukes daughter, Chloe, shines the brightest.

The cast do a brilliant job of making you laugh and cry and everything in-between.

In the end #ChloeWins!

Duke is a Prince among men

Ahhh, Kayley & Connor have done it again. Another fabulous book to lose your heart to.

I bought both the digital & audible version of this book because, well, Connor Crais. Not only has he created a fabulous world with the wildly talented Kayley Loring, but when his voice is given to these very lovely alpha male characters, you can’t help falling in love.

The wait for this book was well deserved and I paced myself because I didn’t want to be over with the TomCat universe so soon.

A brilliant 3rd novel in the series, but reading it as a stand alone is entirely possibly, you won’t get lost.

A big ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me, a huge fan. Thank you for Duke & Millie.
