Publisher's summary

Number four, Callum Duquette. Placekicker for the Boston Tomcats. Former underwear model. Nickname: Duke.

I thought the most annoying thing about being a single dad was that my friends were always trying to find me a date. Until a sassy British ray of sunshine bumps into me at a bookstore. One accidental butt grab, a viral photo, and a lot of misunderstandings later, I find myself in a fake relationship with a movie star.

Now I’ve got my friends off my back, but the cheeky Brit has complicated my life even more.

She calls me the duke of Grumpville. I call her movies the end of civilization as we know it.

She calls my job “the wrong kind of football”. I call her the one thing on Earth that can make me lose focus and control.

It’s getting harder to pretend I still want this to end after my team’s game in London.

I thought we were only faking it. But getting to know the real Millie Darden changed everything.

Connor Crais is narrator perfection

I was so excited to read this one after loving book 2 (Dash: Rushing The Play) and it did not disappoint. Authors Kayley Loring & Connor Crais have such a great mix of banter, character development and sexy times that the whole story just comes together beautifully. loved Duke as a single dad. loved his sighs and grunts. liked Milie & how British she was, and a genuinely happy person, but also was able to show sadness and disappointment at the right times.
All the narrators do an excellent job but Connor Crais's voice is just like butter and warm syrup on your pancakes on Saturday morning, with powdered sugar. 🫠🫠🫠

Faking for the win

Our grumpy Callum Duquette, aka Duke, finally finds love in the most unexpected place and with the most unexpected star. Duke is grumpy for a reason or so he thinks but his one light is his daughter Chloe. When Duke is in the line of the camera fire with star Millie Darden they do the only thing they think will satisfy the media. They fake a relationship. It makes Duke's daughter Chloe extremely happy as well as the people around them. What they both find is they genuinely like each other and don't want this fake relationship to end. Lots of fun and funny moments as well as a sweet story of finding love when you least expect it.

Connor Crais, Desireé Ketchum, Mackenzie Cartwright, and Evan Parker were great to listen to. Connor Crais has a double plus as he co-wrote this book as well as narrated it. Desiree brought her cheeky British accent and Mackenzie and Evan rounded out the fantastic foursome. Great listen and I loved it.

Audible! You will be happy to know I enjoyed this program!

The narrators were amazing! Can’t go wrong with these collaborators…they were spot on! I love Duet-style books.

The story~it was so cute! A perfect Kayley and Conner masterpiece. Duke was the perfect amount of American grump. Millie was the perfect amount of British sunshine/spirit! And Chloe…well, #Chloewins.

The texts between the family members had me laughing out loud! So many funny moments in this book.

And I love Notting Hill, so the references were just icing on the cake!

One of the Best Ever!!

I save Kayley Loring’s (and now Connor Crais’s) stories for when I need to put a smile on my face. This audiobook served its purpose and then some!!! As a lover of 90’s romantic comedies, I found this audiobook to highly entertaining and heartwarming. The narrators couldn’t have been better; the cadence of their speech, their inflection, and their comedic timing was spot on. I highly recommend this audiobook and give it five very enthusiastic stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!

Just no

Whike Conor Crais did a great job, the female narrator was flimsy. The britishism were painful. Honestly, so many things were painful. I liked the first two, but this...

What a perfect listen!

There is a lot to LOVE about this book! It is filled with humorous moments as well as some serious times. I struggled to put this down because I was having such a good time whole reading. I highlighted many passages to enjoy and remember for later. I did love the meet-cute as it is unique and I did not think anything would come of it….but I was wrong.

The characters are adorable! Duke (not a real Duke) is a sexy single dad who happens to be the place kicker for the Tomcats. He has a….lets say grumpy attitude. When he meets Millie…he is not impressed with her at all…he doesn't understand why she is a big deal. Millie is a breath of fresh air! The different names she comes up with to call Duke (in her head) and that fries thing…ew gross!

Overall this is highly enjoyable. The writing team of Kayley and Connor come up with different and fun scenarios for the reader to enjoy. As expected narration is excellent!

Chloe Wins!

This third installment of the Boston Tomcats series does not disappoint. Even though, after three football rom/coms, Kayley still doesn’t understand how football works.

Loved the story, the meet gropingly, the ruse, the heartbreak, and the HEA. And did I mention the smexy scenes?!? 🔥. Kayley and Connor are a stellar writing duo.

The narration was perfection! Connor, voicing words he (and Kayley) wrote, was great as expressing the nuances of Dukes grumpy deliciousness. Desiree brought the perfect lightness and sass to Millie. Mackenzie and Evan were fabulous as the supporting characters. Even Kabippy.

Loved this one! Will there be another? 🤞🏻

Wow!!!! Another great listen

If you are looking for a witty, entertaining read look no further than
Duke: Faking the Play by Kayley Loring and Connor Crais. Ms Loring is one of my go to authors and when you add Mr Crais into the mix you know you are in for a well written, entertaining journey with wonderful characters.

The narration team of Connor Crais, Desireé Ketchum, Mackenzie Cartwright, Evan Parker did a fantastic job bringing this story and the characters to life. They were spot on with the banter and the love.

This is broody, American football player and single dad Duke and British actress Millie’s wonderful journey and from the moment I picked this book up I was captivated and there was no putting down until I had read the final line and even then I wanted more……..
This journey ticked all my boxes, I laughed, I giggled and I smiled a lot but I also swooned and held my breath as I joined a couple who certainly has some seriously hot chemistry decide if they wanted more than a fake relationship. I found myself cheering them on but what took this book to another level was Duke’s adorable daughter named Chloe who at times stole the show. If I could give this read more than 5 stars I would and I’m now patiently waiting for the audio release. I highly recommend this read to all romance lovers.

Love a single Dad

Save the best till last. This was my favourite of the three TomCats books. Although you really should have gotten an English female as some of her pronunciation was incorrect and was a little off putting. But the story was great

This book deserves all the stars

I have just experienced the whole spectrum of emotion with this story, especially towards the end. It had me tearing up. I loved the use of the britishisms and was secretly hoping one of the narrator's was going to be charged with doing a Graham Norton impression, but alas.

This story follows the British actress, Millie, and the Kicker for the Boston Tom Cats, Duke. After their accidental meeting in a quiet little book shop, it follows them as they navigate a fake relationship that soon becomes a very real romance.

Of all the stars in this book I think Dukes daughter, Chloe, shines the brightest.

The cast do a brilliant job of making you laugh and cry and everything in-between.

In the end #ChloeWins!

Well done everyone!

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series of rom con stories. They should be made into a series for Netflix. I agree with you Kayley I still have no idea about American football.

Funny romantic Story

I loved this series of romantic comedies. I enjoyed this last book , however the female narrator for Millie’s character was annoying. Her British accent was too precise and sounded fake. If she couldn’t read in a British accent then they should have asked someone with a natural accent to read the Character. It was a BBC voice from the 1950s. 😁

Duke is a Prince among men

Ahhh, Kayley & Connor have done it again. Another fabulous book to lose your heart to.

I bought both the digital & audible version of this book because, well, Connor Crais. Not only has he created a fabulous world with the wildly talented Kayley Loring, but when his voice is given to these very lovely alpha male characters, you can’t help falling in love.

The wait for this book was well deserved and I paced myself because I didn’t want to be over with the TomCat universe so soon.

A brilliant 3rd novel in the series, but reading it as a stand alone is entirely possibly, you won’t get lost.

A big ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me, a huge fan. Thank you for Duke & Millie.
