New York Times bestselling author Jude Deveraux captures the thrill of an American beauty's Highlands wedding, where a royal title is at stake—and where love wins the day.

Claire Willoughby risked losing millions in her inheritance if, as decreed by her grandfather, she did not wed an "acceptable" man. Harry Montgomery, the eleventh Duke of MacArran, seemed perfect. He owned a historic castle, he looked manly in a kilt, and he was as much a titled Scotsman as Bonnie Prince Charlie himself.

Their engagement announced, Claire's future as a duchess was assured—and she set off with her family to meet the Montgomery clan in Scotland. Bramley Castle was a damp, chill place, overþowing with eccentric relatives. But there was also Trevelyan, a secretive, brooding man who lived in Bramley's ancient halls. Whoever he was, he wasn't at all like Harry: Trevelyan was the most exasperating, arrogant, know-it-all of a man Claire had ever met. And the most fascinating...

As usual a good quick book to entertain love her writing. Hope to get more for my library.

Good story

This was a real hatchet job of a great book. I read paperback years ago but now that my eyesight has gone I am limited to audiobooks. I didn’t notice this was less than 3 hours or I wouldn’t have wasted my time and money. This chewed up version missed so very much. I am sorry this was done to Jude’s work.

Where is the rest of the book?

there were parts of the book that were omitted from this audio recording. this is one of my favorite books. performance was done well. not sure how i feel about short version of the story though...

missing parts....

I’d read this book before and love Jude Deveraux. The narration was awful. The male reader tried to do female voices and failed miserably.

Great story…horrible narration

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I often purchased the audible versions of my favorite books to listen to when I travel (and at work when I need to block out office mates chatter!). This one is abridged in extreme. It reads more like a short story. Next time I will pay more attention and get the full novel.

Which character – as performed by Nicol Williamson – was your favorite?

Trevelyan was portrayed well but the female characters all sounded like Grandma.
