Publisher's summary

Early 19th century: London’s Drury Lane theatre district is the lair of the Resurrection Men, suppliers of corpses to the medical colleges.

When wealthy Lionel Furthingale’s daughter disappeared 25 years ago, she was assumed dead, a traceless disembodied victim of the Resurrection Men. Furthingale has now learned from a note scribbled on a playbill that his daughter not only lived an unknown number of years, but she gave birth before dying.

Detective Morgan Bateman and his bluestocking assistant Victoria Eubank must race to find missing granddaughter Priscilla before the Drury Lane murderer corrects the mistake.

Mysterious mystery

This was a very enjoyable listen. It hit all the marks for me. I’d figured out part of the mystery but then started second guessing myself. Each character (even the very minor ones) was fleshed out. Morgan Bateman, our hero, is a second son who has chosen a rather unusual field. Rather than the military or the rectory, he’s turned his hand to being what amounts to a private investigation man.

The heroine, one Victoria, resonates as a young woman true to the time period as well as the circumstances.

Head down to Covent Gardens to stroll through the fog of Drury Lane. Mind the shadows though. There’s a murderer out there.

I hope I will read (hear as this was an Audible book) more from Mr. Bateman.

A shout out to surprising me quite well. There was a twist (three actually) that I never saw coming.

Hidden Family

First off, the narrator, Doro Jillings has one of the best voices. I truly felt that I was in London, listening to this story. The story kept me interested and the characters were entertaining, considering it revolved around the theatre district. The characters grew with the story and the storyline was well thought out. This is the first book that I have read by Sharol. Bravo!
I was given a copy by the author for an honest review.

Unbelievable, complicated, excellent murder mys

This is an unbelievable, complicated, but excellent murder mystery that had me on the edge of my seat throughout the wild ride. This is my first story by Ms. Louise. I am highly impressed with her writing skills & will look for more of her stories. If you love a good mystery, I highly recommend this one to you. I've never listened to a British person read a story. Ms. Jillings is excellent. She is easy to understand & most enjoyable to listen to. I received a free copy of this audible. This is my voluntary review.
