Sixteen-year-old Leocadia arrives home from school to find her mom's bloody body. Unaware that the killer still lingers, she rushes to her mother's side, only to be grabbed from behind and then everything fades to black.

After a year of retrograde amnesia and battling personal demons, Leo's dreams are getting worse - she's starting to remember. More bodies are discovered, and they seem to be oddly linked to her mom's unsolved homicide. When Leo allows her friend, Henry, to drag her into the haunted Lucien Mansion, misty ghosts appear, ghosts that just might lead to her mother's murderer.

Will Leo let her memories threaten her into a relapse or, will she fight to find her mother's killer - only to become his next victim?

This suspense thriller is filled with mystery and teenage angst. A very good plot with likeable characters and others you love to hate. It will hold you to the very end!

The narration was well done. The characters were excellently portrayed.

The cover of the book got my attention and after a quick glance at the storyline and the length of the audiobook, I thought I'd give it a try. I failed to consider it was a YA, which I am normally not a fan of, so that being said I started off being wary as soon as I realized, but the author was great at capturing my interest in the opening story. I felt each character was fully developed so no matter who Leocadia was spending time with, I was curious and enjoyed the anticipation of knowing something was going to happen to bring a thrill. The author did not fail to deliver. The narrator had a range of characters to do and she did great to deliver with a cadence that allowed me to listen, follow, and become absorbed in the story. I enjoyed Leo's character and even her name was cool. The storyline was really interesting with the mystery of her mother, and the haunting of the mansion, and then the drama of the teens telling lies and stretching the truth out of competition or jealousy...that part I normally give a bored sigh to, but it was done well here and I found myself anxious to know the end result! The two male characters were each strongly developed and kept me guessing easily. A very nice mystery and thriller. I will look at other books by this author :-)

Very Enjoyable!

Would you try another book from Cathrina Constantine and/or Caitlin Kelly?

Yes, and yes. This is the second book I've heard Caitlin Kelly narrate, and I thoroughly enjoyed them both.I liked the story, but there were some strange writing quirks like an over-use of adjectives and trying to hard to sound like a teen. There is a strange sentence structure used periodically throughout this book that reads gramatically wrong to me. "Outfitted in school colors of red, white, and blue, the skimpy uniform molded to my body like shrink-wrap." It starts with a verb-phrase "outfitted in school colors," but then the next clause has a subject that doesn't seem to match, "the skimpy uniform." Isn't SHE the one "outfitted" not the uniform itself?

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The most interesting thing about the story is the haunted house. I was asking myself the whole time whether the book was realistic or supernatural, and I still don't know! This is compounded by the character who has drug and psychiatric issues. The least interesting is the ending: predictable and cliche.

Have you listened to any of Caitlin Kelly’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes! Both excellent.

If you could sum up Don't Forget to Breathe in three words, what would they be?

Excellent. Edgy. Stimulating.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Don't Forget to Breathe?

One of the most memorable moments of the book is when Leo confronts Regina about Leo's father's alibi.

What about Caitlin Kelly’s performance did you like?

Cailtin's voice fits perfectly for Don't Forget to Breath. She has a distinct voice for each character and makes the book come alive with excitement.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Murder, and it's aftermath.

Any additional comments?

I love this book; after the tragic murder of her mother, Leo attempts to figure out what happened to her mother. It would be difficult for anyone to handle the murder of anyone in their family, but for a child or teen to deal with it... it would be much harder to deal with. Cathrina, the author, provides a good look at how one family struggles to deal with it.

Lovin' It!

Any additional comments?

This is not my typical genre to read, but having enjoyed another book by this author I gave it a chance.I liked the book overall, yet I felt frustrated with Leo's inability to realize how dangerous another character was.The mystery surrounding her mothers death was interesting. The narrator did a good job and has a pleasant voice.I received an audiobook from the author in exchange for an honest review.
