Publisher's summary

From his early rise to fame to battles with his health, this revelatory memoir by legendary guitarist Peter Frampton celebrates the life of a rock icon.

Do You Feel Like I Do? is the incredible story of Peter Frampton's positively resilient life and career told in his own words for the first time. His monu-mental album Frampton Comes Alive! spawned three top-20 singles and sold eight million copies the year it was released (more than 17 million to date), and it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in January 2020.

Frampton was on a path to stardom from an early age, first as the lead singer and guitarist of the Herd and then as cofounder - along with Steve Marriott - of one of the first supergroups, Humble Pie. Frampton was part of a tight-knit collective of British '60s musicians with close ties to the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, and the Who. This led to Frampton playing on George Harrison's solo debut, All Things Must Pass, as well as to Ringo Starr and Billy Preston appearing on Frampton's own solo debut. By age 22, Frampton was touring incessantly and finding new sounds with the talk box, which would become his signature guitar effect.

Frampton remembers his enduring friendship with David Bowie. Growing up as schoolmates, crossing paths throughout their careers, and playing together on the Glass Spider Tour, the two developed an unshakable bond. Frampton also shares fascinating stories of his collaborative work with Harry Nilsson, Stevie Wonder, B. B. King, and members of Pearl Jam. He reveals both the blessing and curse of Frampton Comes Alive!, opening up about becoming the cover boy he never wanted to be, his overcoming substance abuse, and how he has continued to play and pour his heart into his music despite an inflammatory muscle disease and his retirement from the road.

Peppered throughout his narrative is the story of his favorite guitar, the Phenix, which he thought he'd lost in a fiery plane crash in 1980. But in 2011, it mysteriously showed up again - saved from the wreckage. Frampton tells of that unlikely reunion here in full for the first time, and why the miraculous reappearance is emblematic of his life and career as a quintessential artist.

Loved it! Thank You Mr. Frampton for the music and your life’s story.

This book was one of my favorite books of music legends that I have read or listened to. There were a few moments I got lost as he spoke of things long since passed while initially speak of more recent events. But then you realized there’s a reason for it and it is all tied together. Peters frankness about his bad decisions and addictions only makes this guitar legend seem that much more human. Without glorifying the “rock star” life. From humble beginnings to super fame and back down to the bottom and his climb back up. Peter takes us along on this roller coaster of life. Great Read !! Thank you Mr. Frampton for sharing your music and your life’s story.

This book did not disappoint, Audible version.... Fantastic

As a Peter Frampton fan for the last 47 years, I could not wait for this book. It was everything I expected and more. Peter is so honest, humble and open. He truly comes across in every interview, as someone you would like to know. Listening to him tell his story was so personal and intimate.
I have seen him live about 30 times and also had the pleasure to meet him once. He is very warm and unpretentious. This came across throughout the book.
He really is a nice guy, who is an amazing musician,, with a great story to tell. I think this book will appeal to many people. It is well written and interesting. You don’t have to be a Frampton Fan to love it, but you will be a fan of Frampton after you read it.
Well done Peter! 🎶❤️🎶

All About The Music

This is my favorite music autobiography. It is tied with “What’s So Funny” by Tim Conway as the best ever! You can feel the passion Peter feels for the music and those around him. As I listened to this book, I Googled songs and people that are mentioned, and discovered I have grown up listening to them all I just didn’t know their names. Peter has spent time with some amazing people and he is truly grateful for the influence they have had in his life good or bad. This book is definitely worth reading!

Angel looks don’t hurt, Pete!

What a lovely, gentle story. You couldn’t help it if you were beautiful but you had the star quality that made you a brilliant musician and writer. Thankyou Peter. I wonder what you look like now?
When you said you were overwhelmed by the money you earned, I understood. It is frightening to have to be responsible for that amount.
You stayed authentic and sane.
All best wishes, Sue from Chester, now in NZ

Loved this book!

I really enjoyed learning about Frampton’s journey. I remember buying Frampton Comes Alive when it came out. It was very high in my record rotation for a long time. I learned so much about Frampton and his absolutely amazing group of friends. Listening to him narrate this book felt as if he were in my living room telling these incredible stories directly to me over a cup of coffee. I have a whole new respect for him after reading his book. Great job Peter! Thanks for sharing your life with your fans.
