Story
Rod Stewart was born the working class son of a Scottish plumber in north London. Despite some early close shaves with a number of diverse career paths ranging from gravedigging to professional soccer, it was music that truly captured his heart - and he never looked back. Rod’s is an incredible life, and here - thrillingly and for the first time - he tells the entire thing, leaving no knickers under the bed. A rollicking rock ’n’ roll adventure that is at times deeply moving, this is the remarkable journey of a guy with one hell of a voice - and one hell of a head of hair.

Story
Born just outside London in 1942, Glyn Johns was 16 years old at the dawn of rock and roll. His big break as a producer came on the Steve Miller Band's debut album, Children of the Future. He went on to engineer or produce iconic albums for the best in the business, including Abbey Road with the Beatles. Even more impressive, Johns was perhaps the only person on a given day in the studio who was entirely sober, and so he is one of the most reliable and clear-eyed insiders to tell these stories today.

He also lifts the lid on what went on behind the closed studio doors, shedding light on the unique creative processes of some of the most legendary names in music: from Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, and Elton John to Miles Davis, Joni Mitchell, Bruce Springsteen, and Aretha Franklin. Lukather’s extraordinary tale also encompasses the dark side of stardom and the American Dream. Frank, engaging, and often hilarious, The Gospel According to Luke is no ordinary rock memoir.

People ask me how come I'm still alive, and I don't know what to say. When I was growing up, if you'd have put me up against a wall with the other kids from my street and asked me which one of us was gonna make it to the age of 60, with five kids and four grandkids and houses in Buckinghamshire and California, I wouldn't have put money on me, no f--king way. But here I am: ready to tell my story, in my own words, for the first time. A lot of it ain't gonna be pretty. I've done some bad things in my time. But I ain't the devil.

The authorized biography of the most notorious rock manager of all time, Peter Grant, best known for his work with Led Zeppelin. Often acknowledged as the "fifth member of Led Zeppelin", Grant's story has appeared in fragments across countless Zeppelin biographies, but none has explored who this brilliant and intuitive manager yet flawed and sometimes dangerous man truly was. No one has successfully captured the scope of his personality or his long-lasting impact on the music business. Acclaimed author and journalist Mark Blake seeks to rectify that.

Bitter Sweet Tale

Publisher's Summary
A revelatory memoir by rock icon and legendary guitarist Peter Frampton.
Do You Feel Like I Do? is the incredible story of Peter Frampton's positively resilient life and career told in his own words for the first time. His monumental album Frampton Comes Alive! spawned three top-20 singles and sold eight million copies the year it was released (more than 17 million to date), and it was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in January 2020.
Frampton was on a path to stardom from an early age, first as the lead singer and guitarist of the Herd and then as cofounder - along with Steve Marriott - of one of the first supergroups, Humble Pie. Frampton was part of a tight-knit collective of British '60s musicians with close ties to the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, and the Who. This led to Frampton playing on George Harrison's solo debut, All Things Must Pass, as well as to Ringo Starr and Billy Preston appearing on Frampton's own solo debut. By age 22, Frampton was touring incessantly and finding new sounds with the talk box, which would become his signature guitar effect.
Frampton remembers his enduring friendship with David Bowie. Growing up as schoolmates, crossing paths throughout their careers, and playing together on the Glass Spider Tour, the two developed an unshakable bond. Frampton also shares fascinating stories of his collaborative work with Harry Nilsson, Stevie Wonder, B. B. King, and members of Pearl Jam. He reveals both the blessing and curse of Frampton Comes Alive!, opening up about becoming the cover boy he never wanted to be, his overcoming substance abuse, and how he has continued to play and pour his heart into his music despite an inflammatory muscle disease and his retirement from the road.
Peppered throughout his narrative is the story of his favorite guitar, the Phenix, which he thought he'd lost in a fiery plane crash in 1980. But in 2011, it mysteriously showed up again - saved from the wreckage. Frampton tells of that unlikely reunion here in full for the first time and why the miraculous reappearance is emblematic of his life and career as a quintessential artist.

A sincere retrospective
I loved this book for many reasons, but mostly I appreciated the candor and maturity with which it was written. The author acknowledges many personal triumphs and failures, relates countless rock and roll antidotes, but the common thread that weaves it all together is his love for music.
The book is an “up to the minute” account of his life and includes commentary on Covid19 and his IBM diagnosis. The stinging part as a reader is the realization that a man who literally lives for music may not be able to play anymore. I just hope Peter will remember that Django played with a handicap, and Les Paul didn’t stop playing his weekly gigs even though his skills had diminished greatly. If Les would’ve hidden himself away, a lot of players who looked up to him would’ve missed out on a life changing encounter to be on stage with their idol.
I highly recommend this book.

Beyond Comes Alive
Like so many fans my first exposure to Peter was Frampton Comes Alive.
I quickly bought his first three solo albums and to this day they still touch me very deeply. The deep cuts from those original albums have soul touching words and music.
This book helps bring them even deeper with some backstory to many of the actual songs but more so to the writer/performer.
Peter’s talent was rare at a very early age and combine that with being in the right place at the right time by connecting with nearly everyone who was or soon to be become, legends.
I’m grateful to have learned so much about someone I’ve appreciated for over 40 years.

Highly recommended!
I love listening to celebrity autobiographies - especially when they’re narrated by the author and “Do You Feel Like I Do” by Peter Frampton does not disappoint. This book is honestly one of the best autobiography’s I’ve ever listened to and it provides an intimate glimpse into the mind and spirit of a genuinely self aware and talented artist. In addition to being a supremely gifted musician and outstanding live performer, this memoir also reveals Peter Frampton to be a wonderful vocal mimic as well as he describes his star struck encounters with other rock icons such as David Bowie, George Harrison and Ringo. Self-deprecating, honest, sensitive and compassionate, Frampton tells of his meteoric rise to fame in the 70’s followed by the devastating career implosion in the 80’s and finally his ultimate redemption and recognition as one of the greatest guitar players and musicians of our time. My heart aches at the thought that as a result of the disease ravaging his body, he might someday lose the ability to play the very instrument that has literally become an integral part of him. I truly hope that before that happens, a cure is found for ibm so we can continue to enjoy his amazing talent for many more years to come.

Loved it! Thank You Mr. Frampton for the music and your life’s story.
This book was one of my favorite books of music legends that I have read or listened to. There were a few moments I got lost as he spoke of things long since passed while initially speak of more recent events. But then you realized there’s a reason for it and it is all tied together. Peters frankness about his bad decisions and addictions only makes this guitar legend seem that much more human. Without glorifying the “rock star” life. From humble beginnings to super fame and back down to the bottom and his climb back up. Peter takes us along on this roller coaster of life. Great Read !! Thank you Mr. Frampton for sharing your music and your life’s story.

Entertaining and interesting
I’ve long been a Frampton fan, going back to his days with The Herd and Humble Pie. I was delighted to find he’s written his story and the bonus of the audible version is that he narrates as well. He has an easy listening voice; he tells the story as if he’s sitting nearby reminiscing and I find it not only interesting but very relaxing.
Loved the prologue with his tale of troubles in Panama. It’s the stuff of legend! Thereafter, it’s linear with stories about his early childhood and secondary schooling where he was friendly with Bowie. He provides a lot of insight into the music industry, recording, writing, playing and added to that, he gives an often difficult account of his personal life. This story feels honest, it’s packed with names and although I’m not quite finished, it’s up there with similar bios by Keith Richard and Patti Smith. Highly recommended.

A survivor
Having been a Frampton fan since D1975, i saw him live in 76 at Wembley , i was curious as he always seemed to me to be a nice guy. Sure enough this book proves that that is indeed the case, read in a warm and affable manner Petertakes us through the ups and downs of his long career which seems tohave had if anything. Ore downs than ups. He name drops all the time but its done in context and at no time do you think of him as big headed!.
I was interested to,hear he is a gear nerd as well !
If you have a copy of Frampton Comes Alive ( and who doesnt?) this will be of interest to you
I thoroughly recommend this book, its great!
