Resumen del Editor

You know Kenny Loggins for his megahit soundtrack themes and chart-topping collaborations. Now you can know him through the intimate stories behind his five-decade career as a legendary songwriter and pop icon.

In a remarkable career, Kenny Loggins has rocked stages worldwide, released ten platinum albums, and landed hits all over the Billboard charts. His place in music history is marked by a unique gift for collaboration combined with the vision to evolve, adapt, and persevere in an industry that loves to eat its own. Loggins served as a pivotal figure in the folk-rock movement of the early ’70s when he paired with former Buffalo Springfield member Jim Messina, recruited Stevie Nicks for the classic duet “Whenever I Call You ‘Friend,’” then pivoted to smooth rock in teaming up with Michael McDonald on their back-to-back Grammy-winning hits “What a Fool Believes” and “This Is It” (a seminal moment in the history of what would come to be known as yacht rock). In the ’80s, Loggins became the king of soundtracks with hit recordings for Caddyshack, Footloose, and Top Gun; and a bona fide global superstar singing alongside Bruce Springsteen and Michael Jackson on “We Are the World.”

In Still Alright, Kenny Loggins gives fans a candid and entertaining perspective on his life and career as one of the most noteworthy musicians of the 1970s and ’80s. He provides an abundance of compelling, insightful, and terrifically amusing behind-the-scenes tales. Loggins draws listeners back to the musical eras they’ve loved, as well as addressing the challenges and obstacles of his life and work—including two marriages that ended in divorce, a difficult but motivating relationship with the older brother for which “Danny’s Song” is named, struggles with his addiction to benzodiazepines, and the revelations of turning seventy and looking back at everything that has shaped his music—and coming to terms with his rock-star persona and his true self.

More than Alright!

This was a nice journey of a songwriter who’s been in the music business for half a century. Loggins is currently on a victory lap. The performer is 75 and embarking on his final tour. From his days in Loggins & Messina, the author gives listeners an inside look into the peaks and valleys of his success. With touches of humor and poignancy, Loggins is a fine storyteller, who’s not afraid to point out his faults. Even if you’re a casual fan /“- like myself - you’ll enjoy the journey.

More than just footloose.

I have loved Kenny Loggins my entire life so this book was an amazing peek into his personal and professional life. I appreciate his honesty about his failed marriages, his difficult relationships with his children and his problems with drugs. I had no idea Kenny even did drugs, but there you go. This book is like taking snapshots through time. I loved every moment of Kenny's story and the love he expressed when speaking about his children. It was very touching. Love ya, Kenny. Never stop making music.

Great book, great story.

Loved this book but I am a big time Kenny Loggins fan. Just wish I would have known he used his real name when staying at hotels when I was younger in St. Louis. I might have made a midnight visit up to his room, lol.

So good!

This book kept my interest until the end. I didn’t want the book to end. Kenny was truthful and so real. I can’t believe he’s 74 and has such a young voice. He sounds like he did 30 years ago.

Yep, he's alright...

A thank you to Kenny Loggins for sharing his life, persona and sense of humor. The persona Kenny Loggins (the book will explain this) , for seeing me through some difficult times, and a special thank you to Kenny Loggins, who is just a guy, a father and musician - his tour of the past and a glimpse of myself enjoying lyrics that defined many years of my journey. Very cool...

Worth reading

Slow start but then really good with so much insight into his journey and musical acquaintances along the way.

A compelling, engaging memoir

I don’t own any Kenny Loggins albums, but I’ve always admired his songwriting. This memoir shows him to be a thoughtful, self-aware and (normally) level-headed individual who takes his craft seriously and his rock-star status less so. He doesn’t shy away from writing about personal and professional conflicts with others, but he’s not one to simply assign blame to others. Quite the opposite, in fact. He’s fully aware of his own shortcomings and his insights along those lines are always self-effacing, entertaining and instructive. The writing and narration for this audiobook are first rate.
