Publisher's summary

Old friendships. Dark secrets. Deadly lies.

When Detective Inspector Bridget Hart returns to her old Oxford college for a reunion dinner, she's hoping for a fun weekend catching up with old friends. But the reunion takes a macabre turn when body parts are served up at the college feast, and one of her friends is found murdered.

With Bridget's arch rival Inspector Baxter leading the murder inquiry, and herself a potential suspect, Bridget is forbidden from taking part in the investigation. But that doesn't stop her from carrying out her own private inquiries.

Bridget soon realizes that the murderer is someone known to her. And as the weekend continues and more bodies are found, it becomes clear that they will stop at nothing to get what they want. Can Bridget uncover the dark secrets of the past in time to halt the killing, or will she be next on the murderer's list?

Not as good as previous 2, but still good

I am very much enjoying this series. however this third book was not as enjoyable as the previous two. honestly too much Gore in it for my liking, but it's still a good storyline!

A modern Greek Tragedy!

I'm enjoying this series immensely and like most of the characters, with the exception of DI Baxter who comes across as a misogynistic bully who can't control his temper. If I were DI Hart I'd have told him where to go, after all they are the same rank.
This story has a lot going on and I didn't know who the murderer was until DI Hart found out! Oxford is one of my favourite places to visit, rich in history and the authors' descriptions of the university are fascinating.
I would have given five stars but for parts of the narration. Esther Wane has a lovely voice but DS Derwent's Leeds accent is totally wrong and needs some serious work to authenticate it!!
A very enjoyable story though and I'm about to download the next in series!

Monkey Business

Another sharply-observed murder mystery from M.S. Morris, with a feast of intertextual references for the reader/listener to enjoy. Again, beautifully read by Esther Wane.

It’s a hat trick

Three great listens in a row. The story line is very captivating and with each book in this series my general knowledge has grown, I really enjoy this part the books. Well done to the author and to Esther for her terrific narration

Narration fabulous, story ok

As much as much of the story was predictable and part of me was frustrated the characters were slow to catch up, the interplay of the continuing characters and bits of history were still enjoyable.

Rubbish

Ok that’s a slight exaggeration it’s quite a good yarn really. But what make it rubbish is the voice of the narrator, and that weezily tone still tries to do other characters. I really will never listen to Esther Wane again. Shocking voice.

This is a Goodie Too Shoes book!

If you are looking for nothing to challenge your mind but while away sometime then you could say this is an okay read.

But if you like to be sat back of your heels and you have to do lots of work too then this ain't for you.

I will not be reading/listening to an other books in this series.
