Required Reading

Like other readers/listeners there were many similarities in my own divorce experience. I wish I had found this book earlier for me to better help my children understand loving both parents is okay despite the circumstances of divorce. It's extremely hard when divorcing a narcissist.

Hope

i have hope again! thank you so much. you will save my family. I still have to open up my communication with my daughter. but someone professionally finally knows and can prove what I'm through. I almost gave up many times. I'm so happy i didn't. i would have never made it here and probably my life. I'm an empath so you can see how 6 years of this has done to my well being. I blame myself for not being more assertive. I will survive because of you. I literally cried like a baby and laughed while crying as i listened to your book. i also have attention deficit issues. so that's why i did the audio. fyi your narrator is amazing. I could listen to!his!voice all day long lol. again thank you with all my heart. this is it. this is the first day of the rest of our lives. i will reach out to!you when I've taken care of my family to share my stories and how i coped. maybe it can help someone else in my situation. and earlier detect it. :) your biggest fan MATT

Good coping strategies – some info a bit outdated

I found much of this book to be very useful, especially how he makes it clear that being the targeted paren should not mean being a passive one.
The model which he goes from though, PAS (parental alienation syndrome) is mired in controversy.
I disagree that, as the author contends, that this needs to be eight years long issue where the alienator often gets the upper hand.
Anyone wanting to learn about a more effective approach to dealing with this should look up Dr. Craig Childress and his attachment-based parental alienation information.

Invaluable resource

I have given this book to my lawyer, mediator, all of my family members, and friends. I read the book over a 32 hour time period and am reading it again. I’ve already seen positive results from using some of the counter techniques suggested in the book. The anxiety my kid has been demonstrating through nail biting, crying, violent outbursts, etc, have diminished and it’s only been 2 days since I started using the techniques (4 years old). It’s beneficial to any parent/child relationship, not just divorcing/ed families. The things that hit home strongest was when he spoke about how the child needs to learn how to cope with one parent or relative bad mouthing the other parent. They don’t have inherent coping mechanisms and we need to help teach them. It is so tragically beautiful. Thank you, Dr. Warshak, for this book.

Very informative & with solutions

I really like the end of the book for the suggestion of family bridges. We have this program in our area and I didn't really know what it was until I heard The reference here. It's basically a program where kids go to get information and it's ideal for alienated parents and children. I really like how the book has different options for different types of situations. Many similar books focus on just one or two patterns of solutions but this book seems to have an array for a variety of situations and possibilities. It really gave me hope that through using these various solutions I will find a solution for my situation. Thank you Mr. Warshak!

Wish I would have known his information sooner

This book helps to get the perspective of what is happening to the alienated child and how to connect with the child. The sooner you can listen to this book, the better.

listen to this book immediately.

divorce poison is a very well narrated book and covers the topic of alienation extremely well. there are key factors which are pointed out in order to protect your children during a divorce process which is bad enough on its face, but far worse when someone is injecting the divorce poison into the mix. We owe it to our children to protect them from damage In every way possible and this book was an excellent guide.

Highly Recommended

An absolute must read, this book has opened my eyes to so much in my own personal experience with such things. I never shifted fault to my ex-wife for the same things that we have both done this book has made me realize that I have played an equal role in alienation. I purchased the book just to send to my ex-wife. I will be listening and reading multiple times.

Excellent

This book captures the immense pain that parental alienation causes to targeted parents and gives them a large pool of potential strategies to pursue. It is thorough in its understanding of the reality for all parties involved in parental alienation and has undoubtedly required years of expertly acquired wisdom. So sad that it is a necessary asset in the toolbox of alienated parents seeking reconciliation
