Story was just ok.

You never get the feeling that the two characters are really in love or even in sync with each other. Dominance is more than threats and spankings. This story misses a true relationship that would make it believable.

Never dull

Delta James has written an intriguing story full of action, some very bad men, a hero who would die in order to protect his woman, and some very sexy love scenes. Dex is a dominant alpha male who is accustomed to having his orders followed. Mallory loves Dex but when she thinks he's going to ask her to marry him, she doesn't think that she can live their consensual lifestyle any longer. So instead of talking it over with him, she leaves a Dear John letter that he gets when he returns from a mission. I'm fascinated by how much her character grows in this story, although she still makes some life threatening error decisions along the way. I don't want to say anything more and give away any spoilers for you.

JT Farrell is an outstanding storyteller who gives the characters their own distinctive voices. He makes the listener feel the emotions of these characters so much that you feel you are a part of the story. I highly recommend this Audible book that is full of intrigue, action, and love.

Awesome audiobook

Well written, fast paced and steamy work for sure. Delta James never disappoints. JT Farrell narration makes it all the more better.

Another great book by Ms James

This is another great book by Delta James. This was about Mallory, a professor, and Dex, a sargent in the service. Mallory broke up with him by letter and left to fill in for her friend in a country on the verge of war. All this while Dex was on assignment. When he returned and found the letter, he went after her even though his request for leave was denied. At times, Mallory could be so annoying. For her to have an advanced degree, she did some really stupid things. Because of her, Dex was imprisoned and almost executed twice! In spite of this, the book is really good. Fitz, from Alpha Dog, and his team made appearances in this book. JT Farrell did a great job with the narration. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

A great story to listen to

This narrator really does this story justice. Wow, Dex is a brute. Mallory had already broken up with him when she got herself into a situation overseas. He was determined not only to get her back but to get her out safely. I love how strong Ms. James' females are in these tales. A fabulous read you don't want to miss.

Didn’t exactly meet the description

Based on the description I was expecting a hot listen but this fell short. It was too plot-centric and it felt like the narrator phoned in the smexy stuff.
Will I re-listen to it? Mmm, I may give it a second chance at some point but no guarantee.
