Publisher's summary

The wedding would be perfect. Every contingency had been anticipated...except a body.

Everything is in place at the Gull Point Estate for the Memorial Day wedding bash - the lawns are perfectly manicured, the caterer is stocked and ready, the champagne is chilled. And the string quartet is brushing up on their Bach, Vivaldi, Handel, and Mozart. But before they end their rehearsal, they’d be well advised to have a version of stormy weather ready to go just in case the day doesn’t go as planned.

Great murder mystery by Michigan's finest

Michigan author Aaron Stander is going from strength to strength. This is his most recent book and although I have not read all of his books, this one is definitely one of his best. You can dive into the Ray Elkins series anywhere you like and this book is very approachable. What really makes the book great is the characters. You really get to know Ray Elkins as well as all the others. He also plants a good mystery around some historic sketches which gave the book more punch than I expected. If you like William Kent Krueger you will love Aaron Stander. This is a perfect "up north" summer read. Highly recommended. The narrator is good, but is a bit deadpan at the start.

Disappointed

I have read all of the books in this series but was very disappointed in this last book.
