Good

Although it had a little over-explaining that added minor bits of repetition here and there, I enjoyed this until the latter part when it went off on another segue/subplot. I sped through and fast forwarded until chapter forty-six when it got back to the real mystery. I agree with another reviewer regarding why no one thought of using the dog. Good editors are well worth their pay in catching repetition, too much telling, plot stalls, and major holes. I just wish authors used them more than they do. Despite the minor irritations, it’s still interesting enough to make me want to try the next one.

This is a good book

The plot is strong and the characters credible. The inclusion of Beatrix Potter as a primary character works because her interests and talent are accurately portrayed even though she was never a part of this plot you feel she could have been. Im looking forward to the next book in the series
