Publisher's summary

Fight to kill. Kill to advance...whether you want to or not.

Death cultivator Grady Hake has had to learn a lot of harsh realities since he was isekaied to the prison planet. This isn’t cushy first-world Earth. Here, Spirit is power, relying on others can get you killed or worse, and trying to do the right thing can spark a gang war.

Now assigned to be the avenging angel for the Eight-Legged Dragons, Hake’s got to come to terms with the hardest truth yet: Others have to die for him to get stronger. The more death, the more Death Spirit.

He never wanted to be a killer, but his friends’ lives are on the line. If he wants to get them through this gang war alive, he’s got to advance, which means he’s got a lot of killing to do.

Maybe he can’t keep his soul intact, but maybe that’s the price a Death cultivator has to pay to protect his friends.

From eden Hudson, author of Rogue Dungeon and Path of the Thunderbird, comes the third book in her best-selling Death Cultivator Series! Death Cultivator is a sci-fi fantasy cultivation saga perfect for fans of dark shonen anime such as Attack on Titan and Bungou Stray Dogs. Get it now, you won't regret it!

Good job Eden

I enjoyed every single second of it. I named my new cat after Rook so that I'd remember the book.

Great follow up to the series!

I love this series and eden Hudson's work. Her stories have a unique flair to them and this one does not disappoint. I love seeing how the characters evolve, the conflicts they have, and the inner turmoil they go through. This book gets more into the over arching plot of the world and I can't wait to see where this series is going!

Not my favorite, but still good.

The only bad thing I’d say is this book had a lot of filler. There is still the teenager angst/romance piece to this story, which at times can result in a little too much introspection regarding anxiety over screwing everything up. Killing his friends cultivation last book seemed to be brought up a lot of times during this book. I use the term “filler” loosely, as this book seemed more like a setup book than just garbage filler. The story progressed and there was growth so no real reason to complain, but I would’ve loved to have either a longer book, or a little more progression. That being said, it’s excellent and I recommend it if you’re loving this story/universe.

Hands down, the best book of the series.

Eden Hudson has managed a rare feat in this new Western Cultivation genre. She has transcended the basic requirements of a weak newbie trying to survive in a world where everyone is more powerful than the main character.

Sure this series has that too, but in telling that story Hudson has also created real tension and existential conflict. She’s masterfully set up the classic story of two best friends who come into conflict over their perspective on right and wrong and whether the ends justify the means.

Yet Hudson has done this in such a way that we get to follow the person who is typically portrayed as “the bad guy,” and we relate to him more than the uncompromising, do-the-right-thing-no-matter-what, classic “hero.” Not only that, but in the telling Eden Hudson has created characters who we really feel for and a world that is full of depth.

I’m looking forward to the books to come in this series, and I recommend that you do too.

Villain Startup Kit

The buildup of this story would have been totally unsatisfactory if it hadn't ended the way it did. Grady's struggle with "doing the right thing" only to do the complete opposite after a while or the "I won't be used" mentality while internally monologing about all the ways he could be tricked and still does the thing gets a little tedious. You just sigh and wish he just does what he's supposed to as the mc and redeem himself at some point but then he just keeps digging. Now you get to see his moments of clarity on how he's screwing up and wait for the Sword Legend he refuses to read to play out in his life.

Really good book

Really enjoyed this book. The end really kept you involved and I really enjoyed the evolution that the MC took. Now, have to wait for the next book in the series...

best one

This one was the best out of the series. He finally got some STRENGTH and isn't some weak kid anymore, he also got past killing. It was making me so mad that he was scared/hated killing. In the world he lives in its common and he needed to understand that as the death cultivator he his. His friend on the other hand will never understand that to kill you need too become a killer. it doesn't matter if you turn evil while doing it. in worlds like this all lives aren't equal. if too win a war it 5000 inconcent people have too die, I'd do it. You get your hands dirty so others don't have to. I loved the abilities he got in this book and I can't wait for book 4. Grady finally became "cool". the character progression was really good in this book and the cliffhanger was just too evil. The world building got better and the book gained way more depth. The characters were better and the story felt heavier. The plot got deep, and I was really invested in it. I liked this addition and I think you will too.

The fighting was really detailed and awesome. It had me on my toes the entire book, this addition is game packed with fighting. The romance in this book was also really soothing and good. Warcry is super funny too, I hope in the next the Mc and his friend will fight and his friend won't be so close minded. The drama was also good, I almost liked it better than the fighting. Both people have opinions and points that can't be disputed. The inner war going on with Grady was kind of annoying but bearable. He finally came over it tho. I loved this series.
