The story keeps you engaged and makes a long trip a lot easier. loved it

Excellent!

As usual, Scott Brick is the narrator of choice. I can see the influence of the son in this story. Unlike most W E B Griffin novels that are deep into the series we didn't try to bring up every character in the series to show what they are doing, we didn't go back thru every novel to give the character's background and we stuck with the current story. As for the current story, it was enjoyable but it didn't really have a climatic conclusion. Every murder solved was either by lucky coincidence or by something not involving the police. It was still a good read. It was also unusual in that we started with the climax and then went back and worked up to it.

Action packed adventure

Great narration, keeps reader entertained. End of book a rehash of first chapter, not sure hoe I feel about that

Standing Stones or Back to the Future?

Love the early books in this series. However somehow the series jumps from the late 1970's to 2010. And everyone is the same age as in 1970s? Many characters are dropped, some just reappear, family members are lost etc.

Not as good as past stories

Where does Deadly Assets rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

No the best Griffin books. The last 2 of this series haven't been as good as past stories. In other stories he had more of the rest of the team. In the last two he seems to be just concentrating on the main character.

Would you be willing to try another book from W. E. B. Griffin and William E. Butterworth ? Why or why not?

I like Griffin but it seems he's changed his style over the last several years. They're not as good as the past.

What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Scott Brick is fine bit he to sounds a little bored.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There's always parts that make me laugh.

Overall I still love Griffin's wrighting but something has changed.

the story could have been ripped from the pages of today's headlines in the newspapers of any of the major cities in the United States today.

Book, Narrator are awesome

Griffin et. al. and Scott Brick narrating make a must listen to every time. Here is another example. Can’t even bring myself to listen to the books in this series narrated by Russotto ( his cadence and staccato narration make me want to smash my iPad with 5 minutes - I’ve tried several times so I could get the whole series).

Enjoyed revisiting Matt Payne

This latest addition to the Philadelphia PD series was a refreshing return to Griffin's earlier books. Matt Payne is a great character whose career has been enjoyable to follow as well as the other returning characters. Unlike his latest volumes in other series he didn't constantly regurgitate back story from previous books. I hope he does more like it.

Just Getting Through The Series

So disappointed in this series. I love the first books that are set in he 70’s but really don’t like the books once the time shift is made to the 2000’s. Plus , you can really tell a difference once Griffin brings on his son to hell him write. The books just lose their edge and become soft and more politically correct. I realize some of this is due to the period of time that the newer books are taking place, but the essence of the characters is gone. The storyline is shallow and not edgy. Plus, a common theme among Griffin series are small but noticeable differences in the retelling is incidences and backgrounds of characters. A book or two back in the series the original mayor has shown back up without explanation. I continue to listen because I am a sucker for getting through the entire series and following the characters. Matt is now a sappy in love suddenly all knowing Sargent who is really no longer interesting. Mutt and Jeff have completely disappeared as has Walsh and Amy. The storyline is honestly boring. I really like Scott Brick but not in this series. I have listened to him narrate other series and thought he was good, but no one compares to Michael Risotto in narrating this series. His voice was perfect for the northeast big city attitude. Even with these lame storylines, he would have made it more interesting. This is a common complaint of mine with Griffin series. The first books are just great with the later books lacking and at times just very uninteresting.

Where does Deadly Assets rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Low, What happened to the background story. Not one of Griffins better books. The story felt shortened.

Would you recommend Deadly Assets to your friends? Why or why not?

Sure Its W.E.B.Griffin. Griffins body of work especially the Philadelphia Police Series deserves a bit more patience. Not sure what happened but it is like he forgot a few things and a a character or two.
