Publisher's summary

A prehistoric virus. An infectious primal hunger. Some discoveries are better left buried...

James would much rather hang out with his friends than go hunting with his father, the survivalist. What starts out as another uneventful trip, however, takes a hard turn for the worse when they’re attacked without explanation.

Panic-stricken and running for his life and trying to get back to his family, James and a handful of other survivors are forced to fight an enemy they cannot beat on grounds they do not know.

The odds are not in their favor, but if they want to survive, they must venture deep into the deadly unknown, right down to the heart of his ravenous horde.

Dead State: The Complete Boxset is an action-packed survival story focusing on fortitude, strength of character, and the power of community. If you like spine-crawling suspense mixed with post-apocalyptic grit, this is an edge-of-your seat tale you can’t afford to miss!

Good...but all the car accidents are annoying

Overall good. this would make a good series on Amazon. My only gripes are the constant car accidents...man it's DAM annoying. The only other issue is that they don't learn...for example they keep leaving the women/girls unarmed to explore and of course they get attacked. The writing only suffers when the 15 year is made to be more revelant.

The other that the story is not bad, there is always new environments, people and situations that makes things interesting.

Lucky but dumbest kid ever.

I enjoyed the story even though after the first few chapters the thought process of the author began to come through and you could finish each chapter your self. I really am not one to leave reviews that aren't good so sorry. I did enjoy the narration and will look forward to other books by him.

This was ok.

I wasn't overly impressed with these books. While the author wrote a good story, the main character was portrayed as kinda stupid to the reader. The story was told and was kinda predictable. I'm not sure if it was the story or the narration that made this seem off. But this guy can tell a good story.

Not very exciting.

I figured the whole boxset for one credit was a sweet deal so I gave it a shot. The prequel to the series was great and got me hooked. Good story line. Then halfway into the next book where the teenager was the main character, the storyline just became bland and drawn out... It just didn't keep my interest like the initial outbreak and society starting to break down. To be completely honest, the most annoying part of the book was the main characters friend who had an obnoxious surfer/stoner accent. I really tried to listen as long as I could but ended up returning it with more than 20 hours left. I just couldn't do it.

good story other then main character

As others have stated the mc is very stupid he makes the same mistakes over and over then crys about it just to repeat later. I think we all forget this is a 15y old kid and not Rambo. The story was fun overall but with the beginning of the book it was looking like the mc would be a trained survivalist and not the immature kid he turned out to be, would have been better if he died saving his sister because that's just the more realistic outcome. yes I said realistic about a zombie book get over it.

cliche

This is the first time I have ever left a negative review which, in it of itself, should be evidence enough. I am so easily entertained, I rarely don't enjoy a book.
I think almost every third line had a cliche phrase or saying in it. It's hard to ignore something happening constantly and it irritated me a little more each time it happened. There are cliche sayings following a cliche saying. The author would have two conflicting cliche sayings in the be same sentence, they would be complete opposites, it would be something like; He slowly ran fast. It was mind boggling.
The Narrator's performance was mundane, the last book wasn't as dull as all the previous books. Yes I listened to the entire set, primarily as a personal challenge. Also
the author killed off everyone who helped the protagonist. Some guy would be introduced into the story, they would get separated, another guy would be introduced and few minutes later the protagonist would come across the previous guy's character, who would have been bitten and the protagonist would have to be the one to shoot him in the head. I'm sure some people really enjoyed it, but I didn't and those are my reasons.
