something different

As a fan of the Percy Jackson series I think I went in expecting something similar. This is completely different, but still good.

I did get a little tired of the constant stress and drama in the narrator's voice. This book was more drama and less humor than his mythology series's and I missed the humor.

Having not read 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea I didn't feel lost, I think we're all familiar enough with it to keep up with the story. The "what if it was real" aspect was a great approach, and it was an interesting introduction to the details for me. The characters were somewhat predictable, but still fun and engaging.

Overall I enjoyed the book and found myself listening every chance I could to see what happened next.

rick did it again!

in all Rick fashion, He gave us a new world and characters to fall in love with. All the problems and trials that only he can create.

A HUGE DEPARTURE!!!!

This is a huge departure from Riordan’s usual writing. It was a dark, depressing and slow read. Being a fan of his work, I bought the paperback first. EXHAUSTING read, so I downloaded it. Even worse. I’m use to funny, sarcastic lines and laughing out loud. Especially with the Apollo and Heroes of Olympus series. But not Daughter of the Deep. Sadly the one book with a lead female heroine had to be a snore.

Good story bad science.

I like the book even though a couple of science gaffes really bothered me, and that is not even considering the silliness of Cold Fusion.

fantastic narration with effects!

Our family listened to this on a road trip, and therefore we had no trouble passing the time. Great story with a wonderful narration!

Another smashing hit for Riordan!

As Riordan has been famous for his series, I was excited to read a standalone novel and it was worth the wait! The story opens with hearing a bit of backstory from the main character Anna Dukaar who has been left orphaned with her older brother Dev as her parents died on an ocean expedition. Riordan is able to bring to pass the modern concept of 20,000 leagues under the sea. The forward was very well written in the sense of "What would Captain Nemo's prosperity be doing in the modern day". Anna Dukaar attends a well known school known as HP (Hardington Pencroft). Their rivalry being LI (Land Institute) who they must face off in battle. Through a variety of adventure Anna Dukaar soon learns her history and is led on the path of discovery of all that is to hold, including the infamous ship. The writing was so well written and the characters well rounded. The plot was thought out and Riordan has struck success yet again! I specifically enjoyed the audiobook having dedicated instrumental music to go alongside all of the adventures to keep you even further off the edge of your seat. Well Done!

Unbearable narration

I couldn’t even get through the first chapter. The narration is disjointed, robotic, and monotone.

I enjoyed the story. It was nice . nsrrator was good. not sure about all the pronunciations. the Portuguese was pretty good and fun to hear. I like when books include different languages (and translate). nice to hear an account from an Indian perspective! I'd like to learn more of their culture now :) I'd read a second.
The music did get annoying. I was OK with it at the very end of the chapters or for brief moments. but was annoying when it was the same volume as the speaker then it was hard to concentrate on or hear the words.

Probably Riordan's best book yet. Movie rights Already sold. hopefully disney doesn't f it up
