Acerca de esta escucha

In her debut middle grade novel - inspired by her family’s history - Christine Day tells the story of a girl who uncovers her family’s secrets - and finds her own Native American identity.

All her life, Edie has known that her mom was adopted by a white couple. So, no matter how curious she might be about her Native American heritage, Edie is sure her family doesn’t have any answers.

Until the day when she and her friends discover a box hidden in the attic - a box full of letters signed "Love, Edith", and photos of a woman who looks just like her.

Suddenly, Edie has a flurry of new questions about this woman who shares her name. Could she belong to the Native family that Edie never knew about? But if her mom and dad have kept this secret from her all her life, how can she trust them to tell her the truth now?

This story kept me intrigued and made me question, great job Christine Day, I teach middle school in Oklahoma, it’s guaranteed my students will love this story. It’s an easy ready and simple storyline that elementary students would love too.

Beautiful story and tactfully told for young readers!

I liked it all. Perhaps the attitude of the
Tween against her parents was a bit prolonged. Thankfully that came to an end. When it did the riveting story began! I could hardly wait for the chance to listen each day, Thank you for such a heart felt story drawing attention to the pain and loss suffered when cultural differences are not respected. This book needs to be read by many people to be sure that acts of dehumanizing others stops.

this story was so beautifully written that I as a Native American woman can picture the story clearly in my mind as I read it.

This is one of the most incredible and heartbreakingly triumphant stories I have enjoyed in many years! As a fellow Indigenous writer working on her own stories, this tale is captivating! I highly recommend this book for families with children, and all those who want a way to connect to the lands and Indigenous Peoples of the Salish Seas.

A beautiful story of love and family!
