the Dexter story that launched a franchise

The story is as enjoyable now as it was many years and many readings ago. the performance (reading) is a little flat.

even if you are a huge fan of the TV series there are surprises in store for you. although season one was based on this book there are some significant plot line changes for tv. from the second book on the books and tv show are completely independent stories.

so if you were wishing for more Dexter, but never read the books for fear it would be the same stories, dig in!

This book pretty much sticks to the television season one of the series.

If you haven't seen the TV show, it might be more interesting. It was well done but no surprises for me since I watched every episode of the TV season one.

I loved it

A very close resemblance to the series, but goes much deeper into the dark thoughts of Dexter. I definitely liked the ending of this story more, but it left so many questions unanswered. Oh well... can't wait for next month and book 2!

I really loved this book from start to finish. The plot for this story closely follows the first season in events but what the show can not offer you is dexters constant stream of thoughts. This is a great series that I looking forward to getting into!

it's amazing if you love. Dexter you'll love the books, Way diffent but better diffent.

Really great read. Goes into so many more details than the show. Highly recommend.

Better than the T.V. show

I watched the entire Dexter series before listening to the book. I found the book much more humorous and dark than the show. I look forward to hearing what Dexter has up his sleeve for the next book!

One of the most captivating reads.

The differences in the books and the show make for a really intense read. You think you know what's going to happen buuuuut... You don't! So amazing. Can't wait to start book two.
