Weird and Wonderful

Dean Koontz has a way with the fantastic. This sci-fi mystery takes a turn to the unbelievable but strangely possible.
I enjoyed the story and performance, and the overall theme of hope and humanity.

I loved this book. It was an easy read and kept me entertained. Dean Koontz is my favorite author.

Good book. Good story. Awful narration

The only thing that made me not like this is J. Charles and his poor performance. It was like listening to an infomercial. So annoying. Made me wish I’d gotten a different book.

#disappointing

Good but not great

SPOILER ALERT!!! I am used to way better from Dean Koontz, this one felt like it was dragged out longer than it needed to be then it ended very suddenly. SPOILER ALERT!!! The creature that gets quite a bit of attention throughout the book is wriggling out of its lair to consume a whole bunch of people, then BOOM it died.... The end.. It just was kind of jarring. I also expected a bigger fight out of the main villain. it was a lot of build up and a whole lot of let down. Usually Koontz is far better than this.

this is a great story with some of the best from Koontz. the narrator (although tolerable) however did not do it justice.

Disappointed

I didn't enjoy this at all. The reader read too fast. The story was transparent and dull. I thought it lacked the Koonz magic

Good story lousy narration

I enjoyed this book although it’s not one of Dean Koontz’s best. I would’ve enjoyed it far more with good narration.

Engaging Story

What made the experience of listening to Midnight the most enjoyable?

Well-narrated and engaging story. The pace was consistent and kept my interest, with some unpredictable plot twists. This was more than a standard thriller, because the characters' thoughts and conversations about life and relationships expanded the story beyond the usual being-chased-by-bad-guys formula. Some parts were "dated" in that the technology in the story was described using outdated terms for computer systems, but I was able to ignore those and they didn't really detract from what was happening. I think the best characteristic of this book was the character development, because I ended up really rooting for the four main characters and caring about what would happen to them. I bought this book because it was a Daily Deal, but I really enjoyed it and I think it would be worth getting even at the standard price.
