Publisher's Summary

Rescue might just be the death of her.

Far from home

Fiona Russell has been snatched from Earth, imprisoned, and used as slave labor, but nothing about her abduction makes sense. When she's rescued by the Grih, she realizes there's a much bigger game in play than she ever could have imagined, and she's right in the middle of it.

Far from safe

Battleship captain Hal Vakeri is chasing down pirates when he stumbles across a woman abducted from Earth. She's the second one the Grih have found in two months, and her presence is potentially explosive in the Grih's ongoing negotiations with their enemies, the Tecran. The Tecran and the Grih are on the cusp of war, and Fiona might just tip the balance.

Far from done

Fiona has had to bide her time while she's been a prisoner, pretending to be less than she is, but when the chance comes for her to forge her own destiny in the new world she's found herself in, she grabs it with both hands. After all, actions speak louder than words.

Love, love, LOVE this series!

Fiona Russell was kidnapped from Earth by aliens, but now the aliens don't know what to do with her. She's trouble if she's found on their ship, so they drop her off on a cargo vessel where she is subsequently disguised and used as slave labor. Waiting for an opportunity to escape the abusive captain and his thugs, she's even willing to run off with yet another scary alien race, but they run off without her. What's a girl to do?

Fortunately, the next aliens she meets are . . . but that would be telling!

Don't miss this second book of the series, but make sure you start with the first!

Christina Delaine's performance is pitch perfect for this wonderful series!

This is a treasure!

Credit worthy? You bet!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED (For anyone who loves great writing, great characters, sci fi/romance, and lots of action. So. Much. Fun!)

I see a pattern here...

There really is little wrong with this book. It was interesting and suspenseful, just like the first one. However, the main character's personality is identical to the 1st book, and when I listened to the start of the next one (thank you Audible for the previews you offer), it was again the same. The main characters all happen to find it a breeze to learn multiple alien languages, all clever in a crisis, willing to talk back to anyone, they're bitter in the same way,
etc. It's too bad because there's so much right with the stories and the whole concept. Perhaps the 3rd book is different, but I didn't hear more than the preview. Narration is good.

ugh!

The main character (Fiona) is so preachy and whiny it's annoying. I can't imagine yelling at someone after they saved me. imagine being saved then acting like a brat because the computer didn't save you sooner. It also needed yelled at because it doesn't have human emotions. If I was the AI I would have ejected her into space. The first book was much better.

Not as good as the first in series

I really enjoyed the first book in the series, Dark Horse, this one almost felt like the same story, different characters. Not particularly impressed.

Why cant they all be this good?!?!?

I couldn’t get the book to whispersync to my kindle at all!! And I’ll be complaining about that later! They (Amazon) get u used to not having to turn your own pages and then take it away. Aside from that it was great!!! It completely overshadowed the difficulty I had. The book was good the voices ...simply bring out that quality! the narrator ... brings this to life !!! It’s hard to get good narrators for good sci-fi books. You’ve got narrating and then you have those narrators that your a crew member on the ship watching all this go down!! I’ll be checking into other books she’s narrated.

The first book was better.

Not impressed story was very similar to the first but a lot more boring. Spent 15 chapters just to get to the class 5 :(

Good story that doesn’t evolve

The first book was good story had lots of potential but first and second book follow the same predictable path. Girl abducted from earth, gets rescued by military officer romances said officer frees all powerful AI! Change the names from book to book copy and paste. After second book followed the same linear path as the first only real difference was characters names. Read reviews on third book and it pretty much follows the same script as the first two so I won’t be continuing on to book 3.

More action, adventure & romance in sci-fi space.

There were some moments in this story that was very similar to the first story, but by the second half that starts wane and the action, adventure really gains momentum. I like how there is an excerpt of the next book at the end of Dark Horse and Dark Deeds, it really makes you want to get the next book in the series immediately to find out what happens. To me this is an ingenious way to get the reader to by the next book, especially if they are on the cusp of deciding when to get it. I really liked the friendship that the AI and Fiona created and can't wait to find out what happens in the next book. Defiantly need to read this book in order to get the full effect. Narrator is good, and I would be happy to listen to her again anytime. With the Whispersync all three books are less than a credit and worth the price.

Cut and paste

While fun and entertaining, it was Dark Horse with name substitutions. Great ideas and characters but needs fresh direction.

Not as good as the first book

Although I still enjoyed the performance, the story was too similar to the first book, particularly the main characters and their reactions to each other.
I will probably read at least one more and hope it is not as predictable.
A shame that the enjoyment of the first book was not built on in the second

A rewrite of the first book

Sadly the second book is the same story with character name changes of the first book. I was hoping for a development & continuation of the first book & was pleased to see an introduction of new characters. Then was disappointed to listen to the same story again.

Damsel saves Hero in distress (again)

Well narrated, well written action drama. Fiona, earthling, abducted to interface with AI and teach him how to have a conscience; he keeps her supplied with gadgets and tech. Good sci-fi insights, no stupid, and no swearing. It seems to be a fad that feisty intelligent females have potty mouths, well not in this book, which is a lovely refreshing change. Also the romantic interest is honourable and capable of restraint, so no knickers are lost till near the end, unlike Laurann Dohner books (love'm anyway).

An enjoyable book, similar theme to Book 1, which tamps down a little of the anticipation of what the author can throw at you. Happy to get Book 3. VERY ENJOYABLE

Boring

After the first book I thought I’d like the series but the second book is a repeat of the first with character names changed. Luckily these were included with my membership I won’t be buying anymore of the series. One book was good and entertaining narrator was good needed to invest more in the characters already developed

Love it

Sooo exciting fantastic fast paced story that grips, some romance but not the main focus.
I'd personally like a bit more spice but this is a miner issue to my enjoyment overall.

Excellent

The second Class 5 book focuses on Fiona Russell abducted from Earth and Battleship Captain Hal Vakeri. They meet when Hal who is chasing pirates follows the crashed ship and finds Fiona who is being held as a slave and rescues her. What follows is a story full of betrayal and surprises not expected along with a burgeoning relationship between Hal and Fiona. Every bit as good as the first book it is more than worth the effort to listen to and I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it.

Fiona

Fiona is on her own and has to make her own way in this foreign environment.
She makes mistakes because she is working blindly.
She is really just trying to stay alive and free from slavery.
The AI that finds her, ends up off his space ship, and his space ship is destroyed.
He is out of his depth because he needs something to control.

Greatly enjoy

I really enjoyed this book and the narration. The only bad thing i can say is i thought, as a experienced captain of a battle ship, hal didnt even seem bothered by his crew trying to get him in trouble with his superior. Then try to stop him having a relationship with a women to tje point they endanger her life and knowingly go against his orders the second hes not around. Kinda makes me question how much he was really into her and how good a captain he really is if he has so little control over his crew. The we care about you and think you're making a mistake just doesn't cut it in a military setting with the things that happened. I kept waiting for hal to deliver a real smack down. As either a military leader or as a friend to his friends who have gone way to far but it never happen. And i kept waiting for his second in command to confess he was in love with hal because that or jusy plain racism is the only explanation to his extrem reaction. It just made me question hal as a captain and his feelings towards Fiona.
