Publisher's summary

From Ella Frank’s Prime Time series and Brooke Blaine’s South Haven series comes an explosive spin-off of both worlds.

Sebastian “Bash” Vogel, the magnetic, cross-dressing CEO of AnaVoge, has long been a lone island when it comes to his personal life. Self-assured and playful, he’s never left wanting for suitors - but Bash isn’t looking for something permanent. He’s more than fulfilled with his company and his closest friends, and no one is going to shake up the status quo.

That is, until he’s thrown over the shoulder of one of Chicago’s finest and hauled out of a burning building.

Kieran Bailey, a sexy, hardworking lieutenant at Station 73, has been reaping the rewards of being crowned the city’s hottest fireman, which his crew never lets him forget. So many ladies, so little time. So when he rescues the latest damsel in distress, no one is more shocked than him to realize he’s played prince charming to another...prince.

But Bash isn’t like anyone Kieran has ever met, and soon his world is turned upside down as he becomes more intrigued by the enigmatic man from whom he can’t stay away.

They’re from two different worlds. This could never work. But what if...they dared to try?

Dare You is book one of the Dare to Try trilogy, which must be heard in order. Prior listening is not required but is always a fantastic idea for maximum enjoyment.

Good story. Good narration.

This story pulled me out of my comfort zone a little bit. I really don't have any interest in fashion. I started reading M/M romance because I like reading about people building emotional connections, but I dislike the aforementioned fashion commentary. I like Ella Frank's writing enough to tolerate descriptions of an evening dress and makeup though. I am also warming up to Brooke Blaine's writing style.

As usual with this writing team, the story is pure romance. Any plot is driven by the relationship between the main characters. Bash and Kieran are an interesting combination, and their personalities highlight the ridiculous nature of social stereotypes.

This was a entertaining read with low angst, and we get a chance to see glimpses of some characters from this writing duos other series. The narration was well performed and added a little spice to the story.

Enjoyable disappointing from these authors

I'd give this an over grade of C. These authors should be able to deliver better or maybe they are just running out of steam. Narration was quite good so there's that.
1. Plot was weak and not all that interesting
2. Bash was super disappointing. The worst of the flamboyant gay stereotype. No depth at all.
3. For his first MM sexual experience, Kieran dove in and didn't even blink. Hard to believe that there was no questioning at all. Very unrealistic. I want there to be more from these guys. With all the great audio books out there, I don't recommend starting the series. Knowing what I know now, I wish I hadn't spent the credit.

not worth the credits

Series review: This series should be one book. Ridiculous that this was split into 3 books. The plot is nonexistent and there are uncomfortable stereotypes and homephobic responses to Bash. I did not like it at all.
Narration was well done enough that I finished all three books. Otherwise, these would have been DNF.

Incomplete

I knew going into this it was categorized as a trilogy, but that's not what this is. To me, a trilogy is three books that stand on their own and come one right after another. This feels like one complete book that someone divided into three equal parts and decided to call a trilogy. This isn't a cliff hanger, this just abruptly stops in the middle of the story. It feels a lot like the pay as you go apps. You get the first third of the book, if you want the next third, please insert more money now.

Very Entertaining Listen!

I’m a big fan of Brooke Blaine and Ella Frank, especially together. The Halo Series is one of my favorite book series of all time so I decided to try this one out. I already knew who Bash was from another book I’d read so I loved the character right away and enjoyed learning more about him in an even more layered way. I also really enjoyed Kieran as well and his bi-awakening, and how he and Bash has a connection right away that really couldn’t be denied. Sometimes I don’t like to read series though one one couple because the books usually ends in a way that isn’t very satisfying til you get to the last one. This was a bit like that, in which I enjoyed the whole book up until the last chapter, but I get the angst has to occur for these series to work. I wouldn’t have survived if I read this book before the series was done and couldn’t just move to the next one lol I did want to say the narrators did a great job brining this story to life and I am off to read/listen to the next book.

How DARE YOU

This was great. i love the characters, the setting, the plot.

SPOILERS
But how DARE YOU leave me hanging like that?! The classic misunderstanding/miscommunication trope always hikes up my anxiety. i just tell myself, don't worry it will get resolved by the end. But NOPE. Author said, HA bish you thought! Now you gotta read the next book! 😆 I was going to anyways, but you didn't have to put me through all that stress. I actually need to take a breather before I start the next one. Ironically I found this book by specifically searching for ANGST-FREE MM romance... Well for ar least 90% of the book it was angst-free, but it made me feel it all the worse when I got to the angsty end.

There is something special about M/M

There is something special about a man who discovers who he really is and it lights up his world. M/M is where it’s at right now.

Bash and the Kieran are special. I love that bash takes no prisoners and is loud and proud about
Who he is. Kieran took a second to come around but he fell hard.

I love the mix of these two men and how they compliment one another. They laugh, they joke, they poke at one another and it’s so adorable.

It took it a minute to take off but this book was good. Glad to hear mentions of some known characters from other series.

Not for me

Narrators were ok, I'd probably listen to either again.
I dnf this and returned the rest of the series because I didn't like the story and didn't care to finish.

I love Bash!!!

This is my 3rd time listening to this book. it's my comfort read and no one writes as exciting stories as this duo: Ella & Brooke.
Even though I listened to this before, I just love how excited I'm to related to it over and over again.
