Publisher's summary

Jessie is enjoying an evening run, grateful her life is finally back to normal. Starting the incline toward home, a sudden terror grips her. Someone is watching her. She picks up her pace, but he's hot on her heels - and he means to kill her. She narrowly manages to elude her pursuer and reach the safety of her house. The first one she calls for help is the man she has grown to love, Matt Parker.

Matt already has his hands full dealing with a notorious hitman who's in the area and a thug who followed a visitor to Blue Cove. Now Jessie is in danger, and Matt will do anything to keep her safe. He can’t lose her now.

When Matt becomes the target, it’s Jessie’s turn to help. She has a few surprises in store as a few ghostly friends come to her aid.

Can the bookstore owner help to catch a killer?

This is a new-to-me author and first read in this series so I was a bit unfamiliar with the supporting characters, as well as Jessie's backstory. That said, that lack of knowledge on my part, did not prevent me from enjoying this paranormal, romantic suspense. Bookstore owner, Jessie, has the 'gift of sight' and, during one of her evening runs, senses that she's being watched. Later, she sees a murder being committed in the same area and feels that the killer is really after her. She reports this to her chief of police bf, Matt, who already has his hands full trying to locate a hitman. The suspense and creepy factor are almost off the chart. While I enjoyed the story, there were parts that tended to drag with, IMO, over explanation of what the characters were doing. Eventually the bad guys are caught and it appears that wedding bells will be in the future for Jessie and Matt.
I accepted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A fun story!

I liked listening to this audiobook. Elisabeth Russo sounds a bit young, but I think it works in a G rated type story where a police chief and his girlfriend sleep in separate bedrooms at each other's houses.
Very good story, and very good narration. I look forward to more books from this author and more audiobooks from this narrator.

Fantastic

Would you consider the audio edition of Dance with a Devil to be better than the print version?

Unsure. I really enjoyed the audio version.

What did you like best about this story?

I really liked the twists. I also fell in love with the characters. Matt and Jesse became a part of my life for a period. I felt their anxiety and fear, even a bit of anger when things got close to the end. I wanted them to win.

What about Elisabeth Russo’s performance did you like?

She attempted to lower her voice when she was reading the male parts. She also attempted to change her voice when she was reading two women at one time.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed at Matt and Jesse's playfulness. I loved the way they behaved with each other. Serious when needed but they also released the stress by throwing snowballs or picking on one another to make the other laugh. That was good.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed the audible book. This is my first book besides the bible I have listened to. It is a different experience all together. When listening to the bible I followed along. Since I don't have this book it stood by itself. I whole new experience and one I really enjoyed.

A cool mystery and ghost story!

A story where I didn't know what was going to happen next. I like that! And a nice sweet voice to listen too. I recommend it.

Great Romantic Mystery

This was another great page turner in Iona Morrison’s Blue Cove Mystery series.
The twists and turns of the “who done it” kept me guessing until the very end.
The budding romance keeps the story interesting as well.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Thanks Iona Morrison for another good read.

Welcome to Blue Cove!

While there have been several Blue Cove mysteries, this is the first one recorded for Audible. Mrs. Morrison has a gift for writing characters that you want to be best friends with. Jessie and Matt have another terrifying mystery to solve, and this one is going to take all the help they can get from friends, other agencies, Radar the intrepid bloodhound and a few friendly ghosts.
Jessie works as a church secretary while building up her new business, a book store, and Matt is the charming and handsome local police chief. They work together to solve some intriguing mysteries against the backdrop of Blue Cove, a unique little New England seaside village.
I hope this is just the first Blue Cove mystery to be recorded for Audible, but a more mature reader would be desirable. Ms Russo sounds too young to be Jessie, and has trouble with masculine voices.

Okay story but slow

I found there was often static in the narrators mic, hearing it cut in and out. The story has amazing potential, but moves very slowly with sometimes more detail than needed. I found that I needed it to move faster, that it seemed to be the same thing over and over.
