Resumen del Editor

Trinity Morris, cofounder of You're Not Alone, has a domestic violence past that still haunts her 10 years later. She is devoted to helping victims find freedom and to sharing information on how to help them through their emotional and violent trials.

While Trinity is presenting at a seminar, she comes across Gavin, a police officer who knows her past all too well. It's been 10 years since he last saw her, but the moment Gavin's eyes land on her, he's intent on getting to know the woman who has haunted his dreams all these years.

Can Gavin break through the wall that Trinity has built around herself, or will the present and the past collide and take her away from him again?

You're Not Alone<br />

Amazing book. Loved listening to the book. Domestic violence and abuse is very real and very wrong. As a daughter of a retired Law Enforcement Officer who had always told me that the cases of domestic violence is dangerous to all involved and had always hated when men and women commit domestic violence and was worried about the victims of domestic violence and always tried to get the help that they needed.

A Wonderful Story of Salvation and Trust

This is the 4th novel by Stacy Eaton I've enjoyed and the 2nd one on Audio. Each one has been amazing. I have a really hard time stopping until I've finished the whole story. I especially love the audios because I can close my eyes and enter the story as it is read. "You're Not Alone" had me from the first chapter. I felt the fear that was described as though it was my own fear. I felt the difficulty in trusting. I saw each scene as though I was right there. She is my favorite author I've ever read; I just love the way she writes in the first person, so that you understand the emotions each person feels. I couldn't wait for the story to end, and then I cried because it ended and I wanted even more to stay in the story.

Highly Recommend

If you could sum up You're Not Alone in three words, what would they be?

Very intense book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Trinity was my favorite character because she showed such inner strength.

What about Maria Marquis’s performance did you like?

Her smooth voice and inflection fit the story so well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I did not want to take a break in listening.

Any additional comments?

After experiencing domestic violence first hand, Trinity and her friend Brooke form a non-profit organization named You're Not Alone. Part of Trinity's position includes putting on seminars and this is still very difficult for her because it brings up bad memories. I found the seminar scenes very attention grabbing and they added a lot to the story. At one of the seminars, Trinity sees a man who looks very familiar to her and he brings back a painful time in her life. Meanwhile, she is back to work at the non-profit when she receives word that there has been considerable water damage to one of the apartments they fund and manage. Gavin who has just stopped in offers the help from himself and a contractor friend. Gavin is a police officer that was in attendance at one of her seminars. Gavin is very careful not to do anything Trinity may perceive as threatening or pressure her in any way. Can he be the one to help her love and trust again? This book really sheds light on how it must be to be a victim of domestic violence and how difficult it must be to recover and try to live a normal life again. A very powerful book that will hold your attention and be hard to put down.

You're Not Alone

You're Not Alone
: Stacy Eaton

This is a very emotion inducing novel. A victim of domestic violence that has spent ten years (after her abuser was imprisoned) working to help other women overcome abuse. Will she be able to allow a new man into her own life? She has to face many challanges both human and psychological to deal with.

There are great demonstrations in her letcures to law enforcement and corporate groups.

I will definatly look for more from this author!

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Maria Marquis adds human emotions in her performance.

An emotionally, powerful story

The narrator, Maria Marquis, had a really nice, smooth voice. She spoke clearly, enunciated, and knew when to hit the right inflections that produced the perfect emotions. She did this book justice.

Trinity suffered for years at the hands of her abusive husband who attacked her mentally and physically. She was an incredibly strong, compelling character. Trinity gives seminars in order to help people better understand the effects of domestic abuse. During those scenes, I sometimes forgot that I was listening to a romance novel. I heard what Trinity was saying and I felt like I was there, and I was deeply affected.

Gavin was the responding officer who arrived at Trinity’s home just in time to save her life. Ten years have past and not a day went by that he didn’t wonder how she was doing. Seeing them reunite was like witnessing them each take a breath of fresh air that was long past due. Trinity is very much still in the healing process. He was so kind to her and understanding of her needs. He was sensitive to her triggers, her haunting past, and the trust issues she continues to struggle with.

I liked how their romantic relationship evolved. It was sensual but not overly descriptive. It was left to the imagination, but the intense, emotional connection was there and highly palpable. There was also some great psychological insight into the minds of the victims, those around them, and even police officers involved. It was interesting to see the dynamics between all those characters. It’s something you don’t typically see in romance novels.

The only thing that I wasn’t a fan of was the reiteration of the story from both Gavin and Trinity's points of view. At the start of each new chapter, the story would rewind a bit in order for it to be told from the other’s perspective. I felt that it halted the smooth flow of the story. I would’ve liked to have only gotten the crucial parts so it didn’t sound so repetitive.

Nevertheless, I couldn’t stop listening to this book. The only reason I did was to take breathers because of the emotion it invoked in me. I was emotionally invested in the characters and their relationship. I was tearing up, swooning, and sighing left and right.

This book showed that victims don’t always stay victims. There are long term effects of abuse on all people involved, not just the victim. Despite that, there is love and hope that pulls people out from the darkness. This story was surprisingly positive and inspiring. It was realistic and that was due in great part to the smooth progression and pacing of the story. There were elements of drama and suspense, but again, it held so much emotion that it made it both heartbreaking and heartwarming.

This book is not to be missed!

Story POV's - for the most part each chapter switched POV between Trinity and Gavin, but differently to most books, this story covers the same time frame from both perspectives so we get the thoughts of both characters. At times this adds a lot to the story and at other times it just feel repetitive to me, I wish Stacy had been selective about which parts were covered twice.

Domestic violence is a difficult topic to do justice to, talking about it challenges what we think of as strength and personal choice. This book does an amazing job of showing what victims go through personally while in the abusive relationship and the many problems and difficulties they face as they get free.

And while it is sad at times, it's also a story of hope, a story that shows there's a positive future waiting and the road to it is worth traveling. I was both saddened that anyone has to go through domestic violence and inspired by the people who work to help women and children escape the violence.

I was practically on the edge of my seat for the last 30 minutes of the book, talk about intense!!

OK, so about the POV changes: I did notice that the material covered in the POV changes became less as the book got towards the end, which was definitely good. The parts repeated in the last quarter of the book were important to the story. The more I think about it the more important the other dual POV’s become, so my thinking on them has moved from interesting at first to annoying by midway through the book to useful by the end.

Maria did a good job with the narration with the exception of children's voices which didn't quite work for me, thankfully there wasn't much of this so it's a minor issue. Overall flow and pace of the narration were great and so were the adult male and female voices.

Beautiful Story!

This Romantic Suspense is so well written and emotional. The subject is about domestic violence victims and, afterward, the freedom and the healing. I love Trinity and Gavin. They are great together. Trinity is a beautiful and strong woman. Gavin is a handsome and strong man, very supportive and protective with Trinity. Both are survivors. I loved their story and their happy ending. I was hooked from the first page to the end. I loved the foreword and the afterword (about the author). The narrator has a great voice, easy to listen to. I really enjoyed my listening and I TOTALLY recommend this audiobook. I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
