Publisher's Summary

A Sunday Times best seller.

The suspenseful eighth Dirk Pitt classic from multi-million-copy king of the adventure novel, Clive Cussler.

Dirk Pitt doesn't go looking for adventure: it finds him easily enough. His chance witnessing of an airship disaster - which nearly kills him - and subsequent discovery of the gruesome fate of the crew sets in motion the most nail-biting chain of events of his career. The hijacking on a golf course of one of the world's most powerful leaders; an exotic but outrageous undercover operation in the Caribbean; the sinister intrigue of a secret power base on the moon...Pitt's considerable resources and guile are about to be tested to the limit.

But when he finds a trail leading towards a fabulous treasure hidden fathoms deep in the ocean, Pitt realises he is on to something very special indeed.

For somewhere in the raging waters lies the legendary lost lady of El Dorado, the golden prize that had already lured thousands to their graves....

I loved it. This books make you part of the adventure. I hate to think that I may some day run out of Clive Cussler books.

This Space Needs a Title

I very much enjoy reading stories with characters I've come to like and plots that are fun and surprising. Just when you thought the book was complete, there's another two hours to go. Even though the book is 30+ years old, the President pretty damn unhappy and almost killed our hero a few times. It could be 2020!

A classic dirk pit story with a far fetched plot

While interesting the plot is far fetched and didn't aged well with the events of the last 30 years. I enjoyed parts of the story but the main plot points are hard to imagine. The final repercussions of the plot would have changed the current world situation that it made it difficult to enjoy the story. I like pitt novels but I doubt I will read this one again.

Hard to follow

I really like this series. This one was hard to follow. Kept having to go back to find out if they were on the moon or at the bottom of the ocean, us, or Cuba. And who was talking. Narrator does not take breaks between (scenes) or the author isn’t setting up very well in this one.

AWESOME ADVENTURE!!!

I'm a relatively new reader to Clive Cussler books. I started with the NUMA series and listened to every NUMA book that is available on Audible. I then went backwards to the Dirk Pitt series. Audible does not have the first books in this series so this is my second book with Dirk Pitt. So far, this book is my favorite of all. It was a longer audiobook (a plus when you're spending a credit) and the story was far more intricate with various storylines all occurring in parallel with each other. Every time one story would kind of wrap up, I was worried the book was almost over, but then I checked the time and 6 more hours to go! I was pleasantly surprised several times when I thought I was close to the end only to find that I had some hours left. I definitely recommend this title whether you're new to Clive Cussler or an old hand who has not read this one yet, it's a great adventure!

Excellent.

Finally, Scott Brick narrating the old Derk Pitt books. I have them all narrated by various readers over the years. Now most of them are available narrated by the best. Now all we need is the mediteranion caper, Ice Burg, Vixon 03, Raise the Titanic and Night Probe. I sure hope they do them all. I've been really enjoying re-reading these old titles. Such a shame there will be no more.

You can’t go wrong with a Dirk Pitt adventure.

You can’t go wrong with a Dirk Pitt adventure. This one is no exception, it pulls you in and takes you on a wild adventure ride. It’s fast paced, edge of your seat adventure and really well narrated by Scott Brick. A great Audible listen.

Too slow

Too much detailed information made this book overwhelming and very hard to get into, especially at the start.
