Worth sticking with...

I bought this book without reading what it was about, or the reviews, I simply listened to the sample, assumed it to be in my "typical genre" and started listening. I admit that much like some reviewers said, it is long. Although, not really as long as the writer makes it seem, due to what I can only describe as an odd detour about halfway in that takes you into a seemingly pointless tangent about the Kongo, gun running, and some other stuff that had me ready to give up too. (And frankly, never fully understand, or agree to its need for being part of the book). Since up until that point, I thought I was listening to a story about the kidnapping & possible murder of a teenage vlogger, the switch to corporate greed worked a bit, but then it just escalated to a place that almost lost me... Ugh, I don't know what the authors point for that story line deviation is, but.. if you stick with it for about 3 or 4 (maybe more) chapters, you will come back to what had hooked you, or at least interested you in the beginning.

*** SPOILER*** A warning to anyone sensative or unable to handle any mention of child porn, if you have no interest in any book that deals with it, or are unable to handle any mention of it, even if the perpetrator is dealt with in the end, then this book is not for you. It turned out to be yet another twist in the book, but one that I could see triggering anyone sensitive to that sort of thing.

In the end, it is a good book, maybe a bit cliche, but still worth the listen in my opinion.

Gripping from start to finish

Excellent book extremely well performed. I will look out for this author in future. Listened to whole thing in two days.

Pretty solid thriller with interesting characters. My only complaint is the author's mention of Bitcoin framed as currency for criminals and misrepresenting the Silk Road.

A well thought out thriller with modern elements.

I love the narrator. Imogen has narrated several books in my library...I appreciate the life she brings to each character. First encounter with this author--I hope we get another story featuring these detectives! Bravo!
