Publisher's Summary

In Ellison Cooper's new stand-alone novel Cut to the Bone, a bus full of high-school students has disappeared from Washington, DC, and FBI neuroscientist Sayer Altair must hunt down the culprit who has a link to her own past.

After grieving the death of her fiancé and almost losing her job, Agent Sayer Altair is finally starting to rebuild her life. Her research into the minds of psychopaths is breaking new ground, and her strange little family is thriving. But Sayer’s newfound happiness is threatened when she is called in to investigate a girl’s body left inside a circle of animal figurines below a cryptic message written in blood. When they discover that the dead girl is one of 24 missing high school students, Sayer quickly realizes that nothing in this case is what it seems.

As the investigation draws her in to a tangled web of fake identities and false leads, the trail soon begins to point directly to her own life. Now, Sayer must confront her painful past to uncover her connection to the deranged killer if she hopes to save the missing teens and protect everything that she loves.

Excellent series...

This is the third book in the Sayer Altair series. All three books are excellent and can be listened to as a stand alone. Each book gives enough information about past circumstances that are mentioned to fill in any blanks.
This book begins with a brain injured man pulling over a bus full of teenage children. He murdered the two adults and took twelve boys off the bus that he proceeded to execute. One got away. Twelve girls were still onboard. He hid the girls away with a plan to act out a delusion conjured up in his damaged mind.
This is a page turner. Your heart will go out to most of the girls and sometimes even to the antagonist. The ending has a few shocking twists.
Danielle Deadwyler does an amazing job narrating.
This book and series has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION.

I really enjoyed this, except for the one thing.

First of all, it is a good story,. Second, it's pronounced Decklan, not DeeClawn.

Almost Great

If you liked the other Agent Sayer Altair books, you'll probably like this one too. It has a really interesting ancient Egypt story line that I enjoyed. If you're looking for a good listen, nothing incredible, this is a good book for you. It felt like it was almost great but missing something. I can't quite put my finger on it though. The narrator is again the same, she's okay, nothing special but not the worst I've heard.

I really enjoyed

I am not an avid reader. I have taken to listening to books on audible. This is the third book in this series that I have listened to. The series has kept me entertained from the beginning. It has several twists and turns. The performance is so believable. I would truly recommend this series.

My favorite 'police procedural' I've listened to.

Absolutely amazing series, with this last book being my favorite. I usually save my audiobooks for driving, but I was so captivated by the story and by the characters that I found myself listening to this book any chance I got. Can not WAIT for what I hope is the continuation of the series.

So when is the next book out?

I have binge listened to this series in the past week. Excellent characters, excellent plot. I like things like the CB Strike series by Robert Galbraith, Harry Bosch by Michael Connelly, and even Mare of East town...strong characters able to sustain an interesting plot. So I ask...next book?
