acceptable fantasy/sci-fi cross-over adventure

The story is acceptable as a whole, and the narrator did an excellent job maintaining my interest even when the story lagged.

I disliked how much the authors drew on our modern world to create their fantasy realm. It lead to some very irritating inconsistencies. I just can't see people living in a world with hover cars, technologically advanced communication devices and magical abilities, using spears, arrows and throwing knives. It just doesn't work in my mind.

The authors also slip into the pitfalls of amateur writing, telling far too much and using far too many adjectives. If I have to hear the word "suggestively" one more time, I might puke...

The narrator is very good. I liked the effort she put into her work and her voices were fun, helping to bring the characters to life.

Even they couldn’t keep up with the talent of Payton Taylor! Fortunately I have several charging at once. I didn’t want anything to distract me from this unique and amazing world Payton Taylor created!
Jillian Yetter is a delightful narrator that helps bring the story into your mind seamlessly!

Didn’t want it to end

The writing on this book is excellent with witty commentary and characters ready to jump off the pages. I loved the world building and everything about this one. This one will get you in its grip and won’t let go. This is an epic journey that I was excited to enjoy.

Fantastic!

Crown of Sunlight is an incredible start to this YA fantasy series, The Corvinus Chronicles. The story was fast paced and intriguing from the very beginning. The story centers on Sunny and Josephine, sisters who are removed from Earth and taken to a new realm, Writhia. The sisters struggle to survive and adapt to this new world, finding some help in potential enemies Leo & Westin. I was hooked on this story from the opening scenes, from there the story doesn't slow down at all. The world building is great and immersive. I could picture Writhia and all of the characters perfectly.

The narration by Jillian Yetter was fantastic. This was the first book I've listened to where I truly enjoyed the narrator. Her voice is theatrical and expressive, giving each character the distinction that they deserve. Each chapter varies in length, some as short as 5 minutes, some going over 20. I could listen to a few chapters each direction of my commute and thought they were the perfect distraction from my, dare I say it, road rage. I highly recommend this book, especially the audiobook version!

Oh, fair warning though, this book is not a stand alone, so be prepared to also get book 2 in the series, which has already been released. I'm going to listen to the audio version of that as well and can't wait to return to Writhia!

An amazing story of loyalty, danger and adventure!

An amazing story of loyalty, danger and adventure! I wasn't sure just what to expect with this series, but I was blown away! The transition between the two settings, the characters loyalties and developments, and the plot twists and turns left me excited to continue listening and never bored! I love stories with strong female protagonists, and this one totally supplied what I was looking for! I enjoyed both the main characters and the supporting characters, which were wonderfully crafted and explained. The author's writing was really well done and intelligent. I will definitely be hoping to read book 2! *I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

Great sister bond!

This book is about two modern girls who learn that they aren't modern at all. They learn that they are from another realm and they have to get use to that fact.. only the Dark king steals Jo before they can get a handle on anything. Sunny will do anything to save her sister.. even if it means teaming up with the enemy.

So this book isn't entirely original. I feel like I have read books very similar. BUT it was still an enjoyable read and I really loved the sister's relationship and I loved how hard Sunny fought for Jo.

a new narrator to follow

The narration was soo good. This story was a lot of fun to read. I like listening to fantastical stories, and just enjoy them. The writing was pretty good, the narration just elevated the experience for me. I loved listening to the characters.
